Ethara presents Sustainable Initiatives for the 15th Edition of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Sustainable Practices and Innovations Redefining the Event Weekend

In anticipation of the special 15th Edition of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ethara is gearing up to deliver an eco-friendly and exciting event weekend at Yas Marina Circuit. With a focus on sustainability, they are introducing new initiatives to make this event the most environmentally conscious yet.

Exciting Additions for the 15th Edition

Ethara has been making significant strides in sustainability in recent years. They’ve achieved the FIA 3-Star Certification and signed the United Nations Sports for Climate Action pledge. In line with their forward-thinking approach, Ethara is implementing several new solutions and additions for this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Mobile App for Fans

One of the highlights is the launch of the all-new Abu Dhabi GP mobile application. This app not only serves as a hub for fans to stay updated on the event but also helps reduce the need for physical tickets, promoting sustainability. Moreover, the app features an innovative initiative that encourages fans to reduce, reuse, and recycle, with the chance to win exclusive discounts and experiences at the venue for the coming year.

Electric Truck Parade

The traditional Formula 1 Driver Parade will take on a unique twist this year with the introduction of an all-new electric truck parade, a first for a Formula 1 race.

Solar Power Car Park System

In collaboration with Emerge, a joint venture between the UAE’s Masdar and France’s EDF, Ethara is introducing a new solar power car park system inside the venue. This system is expected to generate approximately 30% of the circuit’s total annual energy demand, contributing to a significant reduction in the venue’s need for additional energy sources.

Sustainability Progress

Danny Klima, the Venues Portfolio Director at Ethara, emphasizes the importance of taking consistent steps towards sustainability and involving partners and loyal fans in their efforts. This year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix expects record attendance, making it crucial to provide fans with opportunities to make sustainable choices, both small and significant.

For example, they’ve installed a new track-wide LED lighting system at Yas Marina Circuit, reducing the overall power requirements. Solar panels on the iconic Abu Dhabi Hill contribute to practical sustainability measures.

Ethara: Awards and Recognitions

In recent years, Ethara has achieved key markers in sustainability, including the FIA 3-Star Certification, the United Nations Sports for Climate Action pledge, and recognition through the International Standards Organisation ISO 20121 for Sustainable Event Management and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management.

The Most Sustainable Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Yet

Ethara is excited to welcome fans and collaborate with partners and stakeholders to make this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix the most sustainable yet.
