    Salik and parking FAQs

How much is Salik in Dubai right now?

Each gate costs AED 6.30 at peak times (6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm, Monday to Saturday) and AED 4.20 off-peak. Driving through any gate is free from 1am to 6am. On Sundays it’s AED 4.20 all day outside the free window.

What are the cheapest times to drive through Salik?

Between 1am and 6am it’s free. The next cheapest windows are 10am to 4pm and after 8pm, when each gate is AED 4.20 instead of AED 6.30. Leaving just 15 minutes after a peak window ends can save AED 2.10 per gate.

Am I charged twice at Al Safa or Al Mamzar?

No. If you pass both Al Safa gates, or both Al Mamzar gates, in the same direction within one hour, you’re only charged once.

When is parking free in Dubai?

RTA public parking is free from 10pm to 8am, all day on Sundays and on public holidays. Multi-storey car parks and some special zones keep their own timings, so check the sign or the Parkin app.

What is premium parking in Dubai?

Premium spots cost AED 6.30 an hour at peak times, 8am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm. They’re mostly within 500 metres of a metro station and in busy areas like Downtown, Business Bay, Deira, Bur Dubai and Jumeirah.

Is it cheaper to drive or take a taxi in Dubai?

For short trips with free parking, driving is usually cheaper. Once you add Salik gates and a few hours of premium parking, a taxi can come close or even win, especially for one-way trips. Street taxis start at AED 5 plus about AED 2.26 per km, with a AED 12 minimum, and add AED 4 for each Salik gate.

How much does it cost to drive from Dubai Marina to Downtown Dubai?

About AED 14.60 one-way at peak time: AED 6.30 for the Al Safa Salik gate and around AED 8.30 of fuel in a sedan for the 22 km drive. Off-peak it drops to about AED 12.50. Parking in Downtown is extra. A street taxi costs around AED 58.

How do I work out the Salik cost for my trip?

Count the Salik gates on your route and multiply by the rate for the time you pass them: AED 6.30 at peak, AED 4.20 off-peak, or free from 1am to 6am. The calculator above does this for you by checking which of Dubai’s 10 gates your route actually crosses.

How many Salik gates are there in Dubai?

There are 10: Jebel Ali, Al Barsha, Al Safa North, Al Safa South, Business Bay Crossing, Al Garhoud Bridge, Al Maktoum Bridge, Airport Tunnel, Al Mamzar North and Al Mamzar South.

    How accurate is this calculator?

It uses the official rate tables and the usual fastest route between areas. If you take a different road, or there’s event pricing near venues like Dubai World Trade Centre, the real total may be different. Use it as a planning guide.
