  • Dubai has 10 Salik gates. The newest, Business Bay Crossing and Al Safa South, opened on 24 November 2024.
  • Monday to Saturday, Salik costs AED 6 at peak times (6am to 10am, 4pm to 8pm) and AED 4 off peak, plus 5% VAT since 1 June 2026 (AED 6.30 and AED 4.20).
  • Sundays are AED 4 (AED 4.20 with VAT) all day, and every day is free from 1am to 6am.
  • Passing Al Safa North and South, or Al Mamzar North and South, in the same direction within one hour is charged once.

Salik rates and timings

Salik moved to variable pricing on 31 January 2025, so what you pay depends on the day and time you pass a gate. From 1 June 2026, 5% VAT applies to Salik tolls.

The one hour rules

  • Al Safa North and Al Safa South: passing both in the same direction within one hour is charged once.
  • Al Mamzar North and Al Mamzar South: passing both within one hour is charged once.

Salik fines and tags

Driving through a gate with no Salik tagYou have 10 days to buy and register a tag. After that, fines are AED 100 the first time, AED 200 the second time and AED 400 for each time after that.

FAQs

How many Salik gates are there in Dubai?

Dubai has 10 Salik toll gates: Al Barsha, Al Safa North, Al Safa South, Jebel Ali, Al Garhoud Bridge, Al Maktoum Bridge, Business Bay Crossing, Airport Tunnel, Al Mamzar North and Al Mamzar South. The two newest, Business Bay Crossing and Al Safa South, opened on 24 November 2024.

How much is Salik now?

Salik uses variable pricing. Monday to Saturday it is AED 6 at peak times (6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm) and AED 4 at other times, and free from 1am to 6am. On Sundays it is AED 4 all day, except free from 1am to 6am. Since 1 June 2026, 5% VAT is added, so the charges are AED 6.30 and AED 4.20.

Do I pay twice if I pass Al Safa North and Al Safa South?

No. If you pass Al Safa North and Al Safa South in the same direction within one hour, you are charged only once. The same one hour rule applies to Al Mamzar North and Al Mamzar South.

What happens if my Salik balance runs out?

You have five days to top up after crossing a gate with an insufficient balance. After that, a fine is charged for each day the balance stays short, so top up through the Salik app, website or at petrol stations as soon as you can.

When is Salik free?

Salik is free every day between 1am and 6am. Separate timings can apply during Ramadan, public holidays and major events, and the RTA announces these in advance.
