SRK’s ‘Pathaan’ Marks a Place In The history of Hindi Cinema

The return of the king! Shah Rukh Khan is back on the big screen with his highly anticipated film “Pathaan” directed by Siddharth Anand, co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The opening day was nothing short of sensational, as SRK made his theatrical comeback after 4 long years. Bollywood fans have been eagerly waiting for this moment and their wait has finally paid off. In just 11 days after it’s release “Pathaan” has officially become Bollywood’s highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing the previous record held by “Dangal.” It’s a new day, and a new box of surprises for the Indian film industry.

On Saturday, raking in a staggering 23.25 crores and securing its place in the exclusive 400 Crore Club. With an overall total of INR 401.40 crores, the film has now surpassed Dangal’s record of INR 387.38 crores, set back in December 2016. Sanju [2018] came close with INR 342.53 crores, followed by War with INR 318 crores, but they couldn’t reach the same heights as this latest blockbuster. The South industry has also made its mark with releases like Baahubali – The Conclusion [INR 511 crores] and KGF – Chapter 2 [INR 434.70 crores], leaving Bollywood in awe of their success. With Pathaan’s latest triumph, YRF has cemented its place in history by announcing that it has become the highest worldwide grosser in the annals of Hindi cinema.

Pathaan has emerged as a saviour for Bollywood, which was facing a crisis with a string of boycott campaigns and underwhelming films in the past two years.
