New Exhibit Showcasing Bollywood History Opens At Louvre Abu Dhabi

Do you dream of romance like Shah Rukh Khan and aim to have an entertaining life like Akshay Kumar? If yes, then you are a total Bollywood filmy person. Be it the action-packed movies, songs or funny one-liners, Indian Cinema has it all. And to celebrate the rich culture, lineage and history of Indian Cinema, Louvre Abu Dhabi has launched a new exhibition- Bollywood Superstars. Depicting a short story of the Indian Cinema, you can visit this exhibit until June 4th.

Organised in partnership with Quai Branly and France Muséums, the exhibition takes you one step closer to Bollywood, its rich history and the diversity of the Indian filmmaking industry. Visit this exhibit every Tuesday-Thursday, 10 AM to 6:30 PM and Friday-Sunday, 10 AM to 8:30 PM. Highlighting the success of Bollywood and how it grew to become a global phenomenon in less than a century, the exhibit features extracts from some 40 films and more than 80 artworks.

From 19th-century traditional shadow theatre and early silent movies to the 21st-century gods of the screen, the exhibition presents the richness of India’s image-making traditions alongside the influence of popular arts such as storytelling, dance, and theatre and its close relationship with mythology and religion.

Admission is free for people below 18, UAE residents 60+, Louvre Abu Dhabi members, ICOM and related card holders, journalists, and People of Determination with one companion.
