logos hope: the World’s largest Floating Book Fair is coming to the UAE this month

Book worms, brace yourselves! The world’s largest book fair is coming to Dubai very soon. But, that’s not the full news. This book fair is one-of-a-kind because it’s the largest ‘floating’ book fair in the UAE. Make space for new books as Logos Hope is returning to the UAE this year. This year, the floating book fair will be docking at three emirates in the UAE: Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

What is logos hope?

With around 60 different nationalities represented on board, the Logos Hope community is regarded as a genuine expression of international goodwill and understanding. The crew and staff are all non-salaried volunteers, including many serving in their professional capacity, such as seafarers, engineers, electricians, nurses, teachers and cooks. Sponsorship from friends, family members and civic organisations enables crewmembers to serve on board.

The ship remains in each port for several weeks and opens the gangways to thousands of visitors each day. On average, one million visitors are welcomed on board every year.

all about the floating book fair

The floating bookfair offers over 5,000 titles, providing many visitors their first-ever opportunity to purchase quality literature. Teams go from the ship into surrounding areas to visit hospitals, schools, orphanages or prisons, supply aid and provide community care. In each port, the ship’s crew and staff partner with community groups to share hope and show love to people whatever their circumstance, culture or background.

It began operating as a literary platform in 2009 and has since welcomed an astounding 49 million users. However, Logos Hope had a much more interesting beginning than a library in the middle of the sea.

Mark these dates on your calendars:

Ras Al Khaimah: Tuesday, April 11 to 16
Dubai: Tuesday, April 18 to 23
Abu Dhabi: Wednesday, May 17 to June 4
