Exciting Tournament Line-up
The most awaiting 2024 edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup is right around the corner, and cricket fans in the UAE have something truly exciting to look forward to. With tickets priced as low as Dhs5 and free access for under-18s, it’s a fantastic opportunity for families and cricket enthusiasts alike to enjoy world-class sporting action without breaking the bank.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced that tickets for the Women’s T20 World Cup are now available for purchase. Starting at just Dhs5 for regular matches and going up to only Dhs15 for doubleheaders or the grand finale, these prices make it one of the most accessible sporting events in the UAE. Even better, anyone under 18 can attend for free, encouraging families to experience the thrill of live cricket together.
The tournament will run in October at Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium. This year’s event promises an exhilarating cricket experience for fans across the UAE.
A Shift in Venue: From Bangladesh to the UAE
Originally scheduled to take place in Bangladesh, the Women’s T20 World Cup was moved to the UAE due to unforeseen circumstances. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) explored various avenues to host the tournament, but travel advisories from multiple participating nations made it unfeasible. In a statement, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice thanked the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in at the last minute to ensure the event takes place smoothly. The BCB will retain future hosting rights, and there are plans to bring an ICC global event to Bangladesh soon.
Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe were also considered as alternative hosts, but the UAE was ultimately chosen for its excellent facilities and prior experience in hosting major cricket tournaments.
Key Fixtures to Watch in Dubai
The Women’s T20 World Cup will kick off on Thursday, October 3, with Bangladesh taking on Scotland at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Fans in Dubai can expect some electrifying matches, with key fixtures including:
- India vs Pakistan on Sunday, October 6
- India vs Sri Lanka on Wednesday, October 9
- Australia vs Pakistan on Friday, October 11
Dubai will also host the first semi-final on Thursday, October 17, followed by the much-anticipated final on Sunday, October 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Who’s Playing? Teams to Watch
Australia will return to defend their crown against some of the top women’s cricket teams from around the world. The 2023 World Cup champions will be joined by England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, and the West Indies—each qualifying based on their performance in the previous tournament. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland, and Sri Lanka round off the roster, with all teams gearing up for intense competition.
What is T20 Cricket?
T20 is a fast-paced cricket format with each team playing 20 overs. This shorter format ensures quick, thrilling matches and makes the game more engaging for audiences. It’s the perfect introduction for newcomers to the sport while still being enjoyed by lifelong cricket fans.
