Tanishq Launches a New Diamond Testing Experience Across UAE Boutiques

The new Diamond Expertise Centre gives UAE customers access to professional-grade diamond testing instruments, in-store gemmologists and a closer look at diamond quality, authenticity and traceability.

Tanishq has launched its Diamond Expertise Centre (DXC) across its boutiques in the UAE, introducing a customer-facing diamond evaluation experience that allows shoppers to examine diamonds using specialised instruments. The initiative aims to make diamond buying more transparent by helping residents verify key aspects of diamond quality and authenticity with guidance from an in-store gemmologist.

  •  Location: Tanishq boutiques across the UAE
  •  Brand: Tanishq, part of the Tata Group
  •  Launch Date: 27 October 2026
  •  Key Feature: Five specialised instruments for examining diamond characteristics
  •  Expert Support: In-store gemmologists guide customers through the evaluation process
  •  Additional Service: Customers can bring diamonds purchased elsewhere, including inherited pieces
  •  Lab Expertise: Tanishq Gemmological Lab has evaluated more than 100 million diamonds since its establishment in 2002

Tanishq has launched its Diamond Expertise Centre (DXC) across its boutiques in the UAE, giving customers the opportunity to examine diamonds using professional-grade verification instruments. Announced on 27 October 2026, the initiative introduces a more hands-on approach to diamond buying, allowing shoppers to explore features such as clarity, light performance, optical symmetry and identification markings.

According to Tanishq, the centre is a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region, bringing specialised diamond evaluation technology from gemmological laboratories into the retail environment. The service is designed to help customers understand what they are buying rather than relying solely on certificates or verbal assurances.

The launch builds on Tanishq’s earlier approach to gold transparency through its Karatmeter and extends the same principle to diamond jewellery.

What Is the Diamond Expertise Centre?

The Diamond Expertise Centre is an open, interactive area within Tanishq boutiques where customers can explore different aspects of diamond quality using specialised instruments.

The centre aims to make the evaluation process easier to understand by allowing shoppers to see certain diamond characteristics directly. Instead of receiving an explanation alone, customers can observe the stones and learn how their features relate to the information provided during the buying process.

Tanishq says the DXC brings lab-grade instruments into the UAE retail setting, making this technology accessible to customers on the shop floor.

The experience is guided by an in-store gemmologist at every DXC location. Customers can ask questions, understand the results and receive assistance while examining diamonds.

The service is also open to people who already own diamond jewellery. Customers can bring in inherited pieces or diamonds purchased elsewhere for independent evaluation through the centre’s available instruments.

Five Ways Customers Can Examine Diamonds at Tanishq

The DXC brings together different instruments, each designed to help customers understand a particular aspect of a diamond.

1. Diamond Caratmeter

The Diamond Caratmeter helps determine whether a diamond is natural or a synthetic alternative, a distinction that cannot be made reliably by looking at a stone with the naked eye.

This feature addresses a key concern for buyers who want to understand the nature of the diamond they are purchasing. Tanishq presents the instrument as a central part of its effort to make diamond verification more transparent.

2. Clarity Viewer

The Clarity Viewer magnifies a diamond so customers can examine its inclusions, or the internal characteristics that influence its clarity grade.

Shoppers can look more closely at the stone and compare what they see with the clarity grade stated on its certificate. The instrument supports a better understanding of grades such as VVS, VS and SI.

3. LightScope

The LightScope demonstrates a diamond’s light performance across three parameters: brilliance, fire and scintillation.

These characteristics relate to how a diamond reflects and displays light. The instrument provides a live visual demonstration, helping customers explore the differences between stones rather than relying only on written descriptions.

Tanishq says the LightScope is particularly relevant to its Celeste range of solitaires, which the brand positions around light performance. The instrument allows customers to examine how Celeste diamonds perform against other diamonds.

4. Hearts and Arrows Viewer

The Hearts and Arrows Viewer reveals the optical symmetry pattern found in ideally cut round diamonds.

This pattern is associated with precise cutting and symmetry. The instrument gives customers a closer look at the visual characteristics of a diamond’s cut and helps explain why precision matters when evaluating certain round stones.

5. Marking Viewer

The Marking Viewer displays Tanishq’s inscribed logo and the unique identification number on each stone.

These markings help confirm the stone’s identity and support traceability. Customers can see the identifying details directly, adding another layer of verification to the buying experience.

How Tanishq’s Gemmological Lab Supports the Centre?

The DXC draws on the expertise of the Tanishq Gemmological Lab (TGL), which the company established in 2002.

According to Tanishq, the laboratory has evaluated more than 100 million diamonds over more than two decades. The company describes this experience as a foundation of its position as India’s largest diamond sourcing retailer.

Tanishq says its diamond assessment process involves a team that includes 11 PhD-level specialists. Diamonds are evaluated against the traditional 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. The process also considers advanced light performance parameters.

The laboratory uses technologies including spectrophotometry and Raman spectroscopy as part of its evaluation work. Tanishq reports that only 5% of the diamonds it assesses meet its selection criteria.

The company also states that every studded piece carries a TGL Certificate of Authenticity. According to Tanishq, its diamonds are responsibly sourced, conflict-free and compliant with the Kimberley Process.

These laboratory processes provide the technical foundation behind the customer-facing experience at the DXC.

What Arun Narayan Said About the Launch

Arun Narayan, Chief Executive Officer of the Jewellery Division at Titan Company Limited, said the new centre builds on Tanishq’s earlier efforts to improve transparency in jewellery retail.

He pointed to the brand’s introduction of the gold Karatmeter, which gave customers a way to verify gold purity for themselves. The DXC applies the same principle to diamonds by allowing customers to explore evidence directly rather than relying only on a brand’s assurance.

Narayan also noted that today’s shoppers are more informed and involved in the buying process. In his view, the centre responds to customers who want to understand the products they purchase and see how their characteristics are evaluated.

The initiative reflects a broader shift in the way Tanishq approaches customer confidence, placing greater emphasis on visible verification alongside expert guidance and certification.

How the New Centre Benefits Diamond Buyers?

Diamond purchases often involve several factors, including authenticity, clarity, cut quality and the information provided on certificates. The DXC gives UAE customers another way to explore these aspects with support from a trained gemmologist.

For first-time buyers, the instruments can make technical diamond terminology easier to understand. Customers considering solitaires can examine light performance and optical symmetry, while existing diamond owners can bring their own stones for evaluation.

The centre also gives shoppers a more interactive way to learn about diamond identification and traceability before making a purchase.

Tanishq says the DXC is now available across its UAE boutiques. Customers can visit their nearest boutique to experience the centre and speak with an in-store gemmologist.
