Sharjah Opens Dhs700 Million Khorfakkan Resort on UAE’s East Coast

The new beachfront development features 573 serviced apartments, hotel-style amenities, pools, shops, and green spaces aimed at boosting tourism in Khorfakkan.

Khorfakkan is quickly becoming one of the UAE’s most popular coastal escapes, and a major new resort is expected to take the destination to the next level. His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially inaugurated the new Dhs700 million Khorfakkan Resort on Thursday, May 7.

Located on the UAE’s scenic east coast, the massive development adds another landmark attraction to Sharjah’s growing tourism portfolio. Designed to combine residential comfort with resort-style living, the project is expected to attract families, staycation visitors, and regional tourists looking for a quieter beachside getaway away from city life.

Khorfakkan Resort Brings a Major Tourism Boost

The newly opened Khorfakkan Resort spans around 1.4 million square feet and includes 573 residential apartments ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom units.

The project has been designed to cater to different types of visitors. Couples looking for a weekend escape, large families planning extended stays, and tourists seeking serviced beachfront accommodation can all find suitable options within the property.

According to details shared by Sharjah authorities, the resort combines residential living with integrated hotel services. This means guests can enjoy hotel-style convenience while staying in apartment-style accommodation with more space and privacy.

The opening reflects Sharjah’s wider push to strengthen tourism on the east coast and position Khorfakkan as a leading leisure destination in the UAE.

Expectations Inside the New Resort

The resort offers more than just accommodation. It has been developed as a full lifestyle destination with leisure, retail, and family-friendly attractions built into the property.

Outdoor facilities include multiple swimming pools, landscaped walkways, a children’s play area, and direct access to a private beach. Around 100,000 square feet of the project has been dedicated to green landscaping, giving the resort a more relaxed and nature-focused atmosphere.

Inside the nine-floor complex, visitors will also find 16 retail shops and a gym, adding convenience for both short-term guests and longer-stay residents.

The design and location are expected to appeal strongly to UAE residents searching for quick weekend staycations without travelling abroad.

Khorfakkan Continues to Grow as a UAE Travel Destination

Over the last few years, Khorfakkan has transformed into one of the UAE’s fastest-growing tourism hotspots. Once known mainly as a quiet port town, the area now attracts visitors from across the country thanks to its mountains, beaches, waterfalls, hiking routes, and family attractions.

The destination gained major attention after the development of landmarks like Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, Al Rafisah Dam, Shark Island experiences, and the scenic coastal road connecting Sharjah’s east coast.

The new resort is likely to strengthen tourism further by increasing accommodation capacity in the area. As more visitors choose road trips and domestic travel experiences, destinations like Khorfakkan are seeing stronger demand, especially during public holidays and winter months.

Families from Dubai and Abu Dhabi often head to Khorfakkan for its calmer atmosphere, cleaner beaches, and scenic mountain backdrop. The drive itself has become part of the experience for many UAE residents.

Sharjah Continues Investing in Tourism and Lifestyle Projects

The launch of the Khorfakkan Resort also reflects Sharjah’s ongoing investment in tourism infrastructure and sustainable development projects across the emirate.

Over recent years, Sharjah has focused heavily on cultural attractions, hospitality developments, heritage restoration, and eco-tourism experiences. Projects across Khorfakkan, Kalba, and Al Dhaid have played a major role in expanding tourism beyond the city centre.

The East Coast, in particular, has become a priority area due to its natural beauty and growing popularity among residents and international tourists.

Tourism experts expect projects like the Khorfakkan Resort to support local businesses, create jobs, and increase visitor spending across restaurants, retail outlets, and tourism activities in the region.

With more serviced accommodation now available, the area could also attract longer stays rather than just day visitors.

A New Chapter for Khorfakkan Tourism

The opening of the Dhs700 million Khorfakkan Resort marks another major step in Sharjah’s tourism growth plans. Combining beachfront living, hospitality services, retail spaces, and family attractions, the development is expected to become one of the East Coast’s standout destinations.

As domestic tourism continues growing across the UAE, projects like this are helping transform Khorfakkan into more than just a weekend stopover. It is steadily becoming a full-scale leisure destination for residents and tourists alike.
