Dubai knows how to turn big sporting moments into citywide celebrations, and this summer’s World Cup is shaping up to be no different.
As football fans prepare for weeks of midnight kick-offs, early-morning fixtures, and dramatic last-minute goals, McGettigan’s has announced a major World Cup fanzone experience across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The popular Irish pub brand will host dedicated football screening venues at Bla Bla by McGettigan’s in Jumeirah Beach Residence and at Reem Mall in Abu Dhabi. Every single match of the tournament will be shown live, giving fans a place to settle in for the full football rollercoaster from opening night to the final whistle.
With the tournament being hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, UAE match timings are expected to stretch deep into the night. But if there’s one thing Dubai residents know how to do well, it’s turning late nights into social events.
And this one already feels bigger than a standard sports screening.

A football summer built for Dubai nightlife
Anyone who has spent time in Dubai during a major football tournament knows the atmosphere changes completely. Jerseys appear everywhere. Restaurants stay busy long after midnight. Entire friend groups suddenly organize their schedules around fixtures.
This summer, McGettigan’s wants to recreate that stadium-style energy inside one of Dubai’s busiest social spots.
At Bla Bla in JBR, fans can expect giant screens, live entertainment, packed seating areas, and themed activations during major games. The beachfront location already draws huge crowds on weekends, but during the World Cup, it is likely to feel closer to a football festival than a regular night out.
Over in Abu Dhabi, Reem Mall will host its own version of the experience, giving football fans in the capital a dedicated space to watch every match.
Tickets for the group stage start from Dhs60, and the amount is fully redeemable on food and drinks, making it more of a full-night experience than a traditional entry fee.
Midnight matches and breakfast kick-offs are part of the plan
This year’s tournament schedule is going to test football fans in the UAE.
Some matches will begin late at night, while others will roll into the early hours of the morning. But rather than treating the unusual timings as a challenge, McGettigan’s is building the entire experience around them.
There will be breakfast options for sunrise kick-offs, alongside late-night food menus for evening fixtures. So whether fans are arriving with coffee in hand for a 5 am match or gathering after dinner for a midnight game, the venues plan to keep the atmosphere going throughout the day.
That approach feels very Dubai. The city has long mastered the art of all-hours entertainment, especially during the summer months when indoor venues become social hubs.
Football screenings here rarely stay quiet. One dramatic goal can instantly turn an entire venue into chaos, with strangers celebrating together like old friends.
England supporters will have a dedicated home base
One of the biggest talking points around the announcement is McGettigan’s partnership with the official England Supporters Club.
A dedicated England fan section will be created during the tournament, giving supporters of the Three Lions a proper home base in Dubai throughout the competition.
England begin their campaign against Croatia on June 18, with kick-off scheduled for midnight Gulf Standard Time.
Scotland fans also have a reason to get excited this year. The national side returns to the world stage with their first fixture set for June 14 at 5 am GST.
Meanwhile, defending champions Argentina will open their title defence against Algeria on June 17.
Dubai’s football crowd is famously international, so fans can expect supporters from every corner of the world gathering under one roof during the tournament. One table might be cheering for Brazil while another erupts for Argentina just a few metres away.
That mix of cultures is part of what makes football nights in Dubai feel different.
McGettigan’s is leaning into the full fan experience
The brand is no stranger to football events in the UAE.
Back during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, McGettigan’s venues were packed for weeks as fans gathered to watch Lionel Messi finally lift the trophy with Argentina.
This year, organizers say the goal is to make the atmosphere feel even closer to being inside the stadium itself.
Dennis McGettigan, CEO of the company, said the idea behind the fanzone is to bring people together around moments that matter.
He explained that fans should feel part of the occasion from the first match of the day right through to the final game at night.
That community feeling has always been a major part of Dubai’s sports scene. Big matches here are rarely watched alone. They become social occasions, group outings, and sometimes full-day plans built around football.
Football season is expected to boost Dubai’s summer entertainment scene
The World Cup arrives at a time when many residents look for indoor entertainment and nightlife experiences across the UAE.
Sports bars, entertainment venues, and restaurants usually see a major spike in visitors during international football tournaments, and this summer is expected to be especially busy thanks to the expanded 104-match format.
For many residents, these screenings are about more than football. They become a chance to catch up with friends, meet fellow supporters, and enjoy the city’s social atmosphere during the hotter months.
The tournament officially kicks off on Thursday, June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at 11 pm GST.
The final will take place on Sunday, July 19, at 11 pm GST.
McGettigan’s Dubai World Cup Fanzone is shaping up to be one of the UAE’s biggest football experiences of the summer. Between the giant screens, midnight kick-offs, breakfast match sessions, and crowd atmosphere, fans across Dubai and Abu Dhabi will have a dedicated place to live every moment of the tournament.
And in a city that loves both football and nightlife, that combination is almost guaranteed to bring unforgettable nights.
