Transforming Pilgrimage Travel with Saudia's Innovative Air Mobility Solutions

In a pioneering move, Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) is set to elevate air travel during the Haj and Umrah seasons with the introduction of air taxis. The airline plans to acquire 100 all-electric Lilium Jets, cutting-edge German electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This strategic investment positions Saudia as a leader in embracing sustainable air mobility solutions.

Revolutionizing Pilgrim Transportation

Abdullah Al Shahrani, the director of corporate communications and spokesperson for the Saudia Group, shared insights into the airline’s vision. Saudia aims to revolutionize transportation during the Haj season by incorporating air taxis into its fleet. These Lilium Jets, designed to accommodate four to six passengers, boast a remarkable maximum flight distance of 250 km. The innovative cabin design offers flexibility in seat arrangements, ensuring a personalized and comfortable travel experience for pilgrims.

What sets these aircraft apart is their commitment to zero operating emissions, aligning seamlessly with Saudi Arabia’s ambitious sustainable air mobility development strategy.
