‘Son of Sardaar’ hit the screens back in 2012, and it definitely left a mark! This film, starring the dynamic duo Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt, was all about high-octane action, rib-tickling comedy, and a dash of romance. Directed by Ashwni Dhir, this flick told the tale of Jassi (played by Ajay Devgn) who returns to Punjab to sell off his ancestral property. But gets entangled in a long-standing family feud. The movie was a perfect blend of laughter, drama, and some epic fight scenes, making it an absolute entertainer.
Now, fast forward to the present, and the buzz is all about ‘Son of Sardaar 2’. Set to continue the saga, this sequel promises to bring back the same magic with a fresh storyline. The film was supposed to see Sanjay Dutt reprising his role, but here’s where the plot thickens.
Sanjay Dutt Out, Ravi Kishan In: The Casting Shuffle
Sanjay Dutt fans, brace yourselves for some mixed news. The much-anticipated sequel, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’, hit a snag when Sanju Baba’s UK visa application got rejected. Yes, you read that right! Due to his 1993 arrest, the UK authorities have been consistently denying him a visa. It impossible for him to join the shoot in the UK.
But, as they say, the show must go on. Enter Ravi Kishan, the versatile actor who’s been winning hearts with his stellar performances, most recently in ‘Laapataa Ladies’. Ravi Kishan has stepped into Sanjay Dutt’s shoes and joined the team in Scotland on July 25.
The insider said, “Ever since his arrest in 1993, while Sanju has travelled to the US, he has applied for a UK visa multiple times but never got one. The Son of Sardaar 2 shoot would have been his first trip to the UK. However, after Ajay’s team found out that the senior actor’s visa request had been rejected, they replaced him with Ravi Kishan.”
Dutt’s next – Housefull 5, is also slated to go on floors in September in London. With news of his UK visa being rejected, will producer Sajid Nadiadwala replace him in the upcoming Akshay Kumar’s ensemble comedy too? Sources in the know say no, explaining, “Sajid has chosen a wiser route. While the shooting with the cast begins in London, all of Sanju’s portions will be filmed in Mumbai. So, there are no issues on that front.“
The Sequel’s Plot and Production Details
So, what’s in store with ‘Son of Sardaar 2’? Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, this sequel promises to take the story forward with even more drama and action. Ajay Devgn, who is also producing the film, shared the exciting news of the film’s commencement on social media, captioning his post, “The journey of #SonOfSardaar2 begins with prayers, blessings, and an amazing team.”
With a robust shooting schedule lined up in the UK, followed by shoots in India, the film is being produced by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, along with SOS 2 Limited. Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande are leading the production, with N R Pachisia, Pravin Talreja, and Kumar Mangat Pathak co-producing the venture.
