New bridge opens in Dubai’s Shindagha Corridor to ease traffic flow

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a state-of-the-art bridge as part of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, transforming connectivity between key areas of the city.

The newly opened bridge, spanning 1.35 kilometres, links Sheikh Rashid Road at its intersection with Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street to the Al Saqr intersection on Khaled Bin Al Waleed Street. With three lanes, the bridge can handle up to 4,800 vehicles per hour, ensuring a smoother flow of traffic across some of Dubai’s busiest areas.

This upgrade improves access to the Al Shindagha Historical Area, the Infinity Bridge, and Deira, key city landmarks.

Reducing Travel Time for Daily Commuters

A notable benefit of the new bridge is its ability to cut travel times considerably. Motorists will enjoy a signal-free journey between Sheikh Rashid Road and the Infinity Bridge, reducing commute times from 12 to 4 minutes. This improvement is expected to make daily travel more efficient and stress-free.

Strategic Importance of the Al Shindagha Corridor

The Al Shindagha Corridor connects major districts and serves over one million residents in Dubai. The bridge plays a key role in supporting Dubai’s growing population by ensuring seamless travel for both residents and visitors.

As part of the broader corridor improvement project, which is set for completion by 2030, Dubai aims to transform the city’s transportation landscape. The full project will reduce travel time across the corridor from 104 minutes to just 16, significantly boosting connectivity.

Future Enhancements in the Pipeline

The RTA has also announced plans to open another bridge in early 2025. This new structure will ease traffic by connecting Al Mina Intersection with Sheikh Rashid Road at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street.

Supporting Dubai’s Vision for 2030

The Al Shindagha Corridor Project showcases Dubai’s commitment to world-class infrastructure and economic growth. This initiative supports Dubai’s vision to lead in urban development and mobility.

Dubai’s new Shindagha Corridor bridge enhances commutes and connectivity, showcasing its innovative transport planning.
