RTA Celebrating 15th Anniversary of Dubai Metro

As the Dubai Metro marks its 15th anniversary, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is rolling out a range of activities to celebrate this milestone. The Metro, which began operations on September 9, 2009, has become a crucial part of daily life in Dubai, offering a fast, efficient, and affordable way to get around the city. To commemorate this occasion, the RTA hosts several events and initiatives everyone can enjoy.

Honoring the “Metro Babies”

One of the unique ways the RTA is celebrating this anniversary is by recognizing “Metro Babies”—children born on September 9, the same day the Metro was inaugurated. Here are the key details and terms for participation:

Eligibility for Educational Sponsorship

  • Nationality: Must be a UAE National.
  • Birthdate: Must be born on September 9, 2009.
  • Academic Performance: Must have a cumulative GPA of 90% or higher.

Special Celebration at Legoland Dubai

  • Who Can Attend: All children born on September 9 between 2009 and 2023.
  • Event Date: September 21, 2024.
  • Location: Legoland Dubai.

By organizing these initiatives, the RTA is offering both practical support and fun experiences to those who share a special connection with the Metro’s history.

Special Events and Fun Giveaways

The RTA has planned various events to mark the Metro’s 15th year. From September 21 to 27, Metro stations will host live music performances featuring both local Emirati musicians and international artists. It’s a great way to add some extra joy to your daily commute.

In addition to the music, there are also some fun giveaways. Limited-edition Metro-shaped ice creams will be made available, and 5,000 lucky buyers will find special codes on their ice cream sticks. These codes can then be redeemed for discounted Nol cards, which are widely used for public transportation across Dubai. Collectors can also look forward to special souvenirs like Metro-themed stamps and Nol cards with designs created in collaboration with Lego Dubai.

A Journey of Innovation

The Dubai Metro has been a game-changer for the city’s transportation system. Over the past 15 years, the Metro has become the preferred transport for many residents, offering reliable and efficient city navigation. As the Metro marks its 15th anniversary, the RTA’s initiatives highlight Dubai’s progress and the Metro’s continued importance.
