Bollywood’s most sought-after and bankable actors, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon, won their first awards at the highest acting honor in India, receiving the Best Actress awards at the 69th National Film Awards. The committee might have been in a dilemma, unsure of whom to choose as the best, because in every sense, their performances have been marvelous in their respective films.

They truly deserve these awards.Alia Bhatt was awarded the Best Actress for her movie Gangubai Kathiawadi. Her role as Gangu won many hearts, and it will always be remembered as one of her best performances in her career. Alia played the eponymous role of Gangubai, a young girl pushed into prostitution who eventually rises through the political ranks to fight for the rights of her community. It is based on a real-life person, and the movie is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

On the other hand, Kriti Sanon was equally amazing in the movie Mimi, for which she received the award. Her performance was exceptional, proving that she is more than just a girl-next-door. The film Mimi has certainly solidified Kriti’s name as one of the most bankable actresses today. Kriti played the role of a small-town girl who becomes a surrogate for a foreigner couple and depicts her emotional yet strong journey while shedding light on social taboos. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar.

Alia Bhatt made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. Her career took off swiftly, marked by versatile roles in films like Highway, Udta Punjab, and Raazi, showcasing her acting prowess. Alia has continued to impress with movies like Gully Boy and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Talking about, Kriti Sanon began her Bollywood journey in 2014 with Heropanti. Her rise in the industry has been characterized by a mix of commercial successes like Dilwale and Luka Chuppi along with critically acclaimed performances in films such as Bareilly Ki Barfi and Adipurush. Both the actress have come a long way since their debuts, establishing themselves as talented and sought-after actresses in the Indian film industry.

Alia and Kriti’s upcoming movies

On the work front, Alia Bhatt will reportedly star in Nitesh Tiwari’s adaption of Ramayan alongside husband Ranbir Kapoor who plays Ram. In addition, she also has the movie Jee Le Zaraa starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif.

On the other hand, Kriti Sanon will be seen in Ganpath: Part 1, she shares the screen with Tiger Shroff and Amitabh Bachchan. The movie is scheduled to release on October 20, 2023. Furthermore, she will be appearing in The Crew alongside Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan, slated to release on March 22, 2024. She also will be starring in Netflix’s Do Patti alongside Kajol. It will be produced by her maiden production house, Blue Butterfly Films.
