You Cannot Share Your Netflix Password In UAE Anymore, Here’s Why

Be it over the weekends, on long-haul flights, or during holidays, one thing that is our forever companion is Netflix. From watching docu-dramas to rom-coms, comedy, and infotainment content, we all consume Netflix shows. At times we also have streaming parties and movie nights, and if you love NETFLIX and chill, we have bad news for you. As per the latest announcements and updates, UAE residents cannot share their Netflix password with anyone externally. Read on for all the deets.

You Can Only Share Netflix Password With Household Members NOW

Netflix passwords can only be shared between household members living under one roof and not externally. The clampdown was first announced in January 2023 and is implemented in over 100 countries, with UAE being the most recent one. With this new update, you cannot share your Netflix password with your friends and relatives in the UAE or abroad. The streaming platform has shared an email with the account owners with a guideline on terms of use, and how to manage your accounts and members.

And with this new update, the account owners will have to verify their accounts, and once verified, they won’t have to re-verify devices. And if you have a member outside your household, either you or they themselves can purchase a new membership. So far, the restrictions have been imposed in stages in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, the US and the UK.

This Update Is Launched In 100 Countries So Far

In fact, once Netflix announced this new update, it saw subscriptions climb by nearly six million users. So yes, if you are sharing Netflix passwords with your friends or are using their passwords, unfortunately, you won’t be able to do so now.

However, you can use your password anywhere around the world. Be it while travelling or in some other country, Netflix can be used seamlessly. However, Netflix password sharing is no more an option; please keep that in mind.
