Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was recently in Dubai and we at Social Kandura had a tête-à-tête with the man himself. Well, the only difference however was, this time it wasn’t about cricket. The Indian opener has launched a brand new cafe in Dubai’s Jumeirah and we couldn’t wait to get a sneak peek. ‘Flying Catch Sports Café – a name that resonates and sinks with Shikhar’s cricket career, brings together the community of sports enthusiasts, friends and family, providing them with wholesome meals and snacks, while they can enjoy their favourite sport.
“We’ve done a lot of research before we finally zeroed down on the area, the vibe and the style of the cafe. It’s a dream-come-true and the feeling is overwhelming”, he added. The new café has healthy cuisine, video games, and celebrity endorsements all with a sports theme. As for the interiors, expect all things sporty. The cafe boasts plush interiors with a classy cricket touch.
The menu offers a wide variety of delicious food, which caters to all kinds of foodies. The cafe serves modern Indian food, but with a whacky twist. So, whether you’re in a mood for something whacky or want to stick to your healthy diet, Flying Catch has something for you.
However, the cricketer does have his personal favourites which he highly recommends for diners who drop by. “The Tandori Salmon and the Shikari Iran are quite nice. I would definitely advice guests to try the same when they are at the cafe”, he said.
In future, the cricketer plans to launch yet another model of his cafe- Flying Catch Signature which will boast a completely different vibe. Flying Catch Sports Café, will also expand into cold press juice, healthy snack, and ready-to-mix ingredient markets.
Dhawan plans to use the profits from Flying Catch Cafe to support the development of young athletes in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) by contributing one percent of every sales to the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation and Da.one Sports- a sports academy owned by Shikhar himself. The academy has various programmes, like the Grass Root Innovation Program and the Sports Training Programme.
