Residents in the UAE should prepare for unstable weather conditions today, February 25, 2025. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast cloudy weather, scattered rainfall, and strong winds in multiple regions. Temperatures will drop, with Abu Dhabi expecting lows of 17°C and Dubai around 18°C. In the Northern Emirates, including Fujairah, light rain has already been recorded in some areas.
The lowest temperature in the country was noted at 10°C in Jais Mountains, Ras Al Khaimah, early this morning. Meanwhile, other areas, including Al Rams, also experienced light rain.
Strong Winds and Rough Seas Warning
The NCM has issued a yellow and orange alert for strong winds reaching up to 60 km/h, affecting coastal and inland regions. The Arabian Gulf is expected to experience rough seas, with waves reaching up to 10 feet. These conditions will persist until 6 AM on Wednesday, February 26.
Authorities have urged residents, especially those planning outdoor activities, to remain cautious. Those near the coast should avoid unnecessary trips to the beach or sea due to the high-risk conditions.
Visibility Concerns Due to Dust Storms
In addition to rainfall and strong winds, some areas are experiencing dust storms. This is particularly affecting the Sheikh Khalifa International Road in Abu Dhabi, where authorities have warned of reduced visibility.
Residents are advised to:
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent dust from entering homes.
- Wear face masks if stepping outside to avoid inhaling dust particles.
- Drive carefully, keeping headlights on in low-visibility areas.
Road Safety and Travel Warnings
Due to the wet and windy conditions, Dubai Police has issued a road safety advisory urging motorists to slow down, maintain a safe following distance, and stay alert for slippery roads.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) also reminded drivers to avoid sudden braking and lane changes, especially on highways. Commuters should check weather updates before heading out.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi authorities have emphasized extra caution for motorists driving through dust-affected areas. Those with respiratory conditions are encouraged to limit outdoor exposure.
Upcoming Weather Outlook
The weather is expected to remain unstable in the coming days:
- Wednesday, February 26: Strong winds and dusty conditions will persist, particularly in Northern and Coastal regions. The Arabian Gulf will remain rough, and wind speeds may reach up to 50 km/h.
- Thursday, February 27: Partly cloudy skies with a chance of light rain in some areas. Humidity levels may rise overnight, increasing fog formation in interior regions.
Stay Informed and Stay Safe
As weather conditions continue to fluctuate, residents are advised to monitor updates from the NCM and follow safety recommendations. Avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather and take necessary precautions when outdoors.
