UAE Braces for Rain, Temperature Drop, and Foggy Mornings Ahead of the Weekend

UAE: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted a dynamic shift in weather across the Emirates this week, with the anticipation of rain, fog, and a temperature drop marking the transition into winter. As the week progresses, residents in various regions—especially northern and eastern parts—can expect light to moderate rainfall, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms and a significant drop in temperatures. With the changing weather, authorities have issued advisories for those commuting or engaging in outdoor activities to exercise caution, as visibility may be reduced and coastal waters may turn rough.

1. Rainfall and Thunderstorms Expected Across UAE Regions

Starting Thursday, the NCM has warned of cloudy weather with chances of light to moderate rain, particularly in the north and eastern parts of the UAE. This pattern will continue through Friday, bringing isolated thunderstorms and a likelihood of lightning in some areas. The shift marks the start of more frequent winter rains, with the NCM projecting an overall increase in the intensity and frequency of rain across the UAE in upcoming winters.

2. Significant Temperature Drop Expected

Cooler weather is expected by Thursday, with nighttime lows below 15°C in Al Ain and Al Marmoom. This trend signals the start of the winter season in the UAE.

3. Morning Fog and Safety Warnings

Residents and motorists should also be aware of possible fog formation in the early morning hours from Wednesday through Friday. The NCM has cautioned against dense fog in coastal and inland regions, which could reduce visibility significantly. Early commuters should check weather updates due to sudden fog.

4. Rough Seas Warning

Rough seas are expected midweek in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea on Thursday. Small vessels and beachgoers should check advisories before heading out.

UAE – Long-Term Climate Shifts and Preparedness

This weather shift aligns with UAE’s longer-term trends of more frequent and intense rainfall during cooler months. NCM forecasts a 10-20% increase in rainfall and rising temperatures due to climate change. Following last year’s record rains, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are enhancing crisis management for extreme weather.
