UAE Announces 15 Updated Visa & Permit Services For Residents & Tourists

On Wednesday, UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced 15 updates of visa and permit services for residents, citizens and tourists in the smart services system. As per WAM, the updates come in place to meet the needs of the customers and to ensure smooth functioning into the future. Here’s everything you must know about the updates.

The visa extension service has been updated to allow a 30-day extension for one-time holders of 90-day visas. Besides, there’s also an update on the renewal of residence visas. The new policy restricts renewal applications if the residence validity is more than six months.

For citizens, the ICA has introduced new services for cancelling and amending visa information for GCC citizens registered without an Emirates ID. The updated list also includes services for extending vista visas of a relative or friend on a single trip or multiple trips for 30, 60 and 90 days and extending the pre-entry validity of visas. Furthermore, ICA has made the service available in the smart system for residence visa holders who have lived outside the country for more than 6 months.

For people of determination, an exemption has been made for fingerprinting requirements when applying for passport issuance, renewal, or replacement. Other updates in the smart system include the service for issuing visas for a family group visiting the UAE for tourism, treatment and accompanying a patient for single or multiple trips for a span of 60 days and 180 days.

These new updates were adopted by the authorities in the smart services system and its implementation began on February 1, 2023.
