In an exclusive chat with HT City, the ace director set the record straight, saying that Triptii’s exit had absolutely nothing to do with her on-screen image. He clarified, “Image was not the reason. I am the last person to judge an actor on the basis of the other characters they have played on screen.
Just when we thought we had the inside scoop, Basu revealed another bombshell: Aashiqui 3 has a new title! The title is changing, and the leading lady is yet to be finalized. He shares, “I don’t know what’s the film called right now, the shoot starts this month. We have not finalised the female lead right now, it will be announced in a week.” Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan is already locked in and gearing up to bring his charm to this much-awaited romantic saga.

The Real Reason Behind Triptii’s Exit
No drama, no controversy – just plain old date clashes! Turns out, Triptii’s packed schedule is the actual reason she had to walk away from the project. He added, “The most important thing is dates. Triptii is shooting for a film with Vishal Bhardwaj, and my film goes on floors this month too.”
Anurag also made it crystal clear that there’s no bad blood between them.
So, for all those who thought she got the boot for not fitting the Aashiqui image – sorry to burst your bubble, but that’s just a big fat myth!
What’s Next for Triptii Dimri?
While she may not be serenading Kartik Aaryan in Aashiqui 3, Triptii’s plate is more than full! She’s currently filming Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara alongside Shahid Kapoor and is also headlining Karan Johar’s Dhadak 2 with Siddhant Chaturvedi.
As for Aashiqui 3 (or whatever it’s about to be called), the big reveal of the female lead is not far away.
