Remember the time when Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu were the talk of the town? The sizzling duo not only set the screen on fire with their chemistry but also made headlines with their real-life romance. But like all epic love stories, this one had its fair share of drama, and director Vikram Bhatt just spilled some major tea about the couple’s rocky ride during the shoot of Raaz.
Vikram Bhatt opens up on Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea’s relatioship
In a recent chat, Vikram Bhatt took a trip down memory lane and shared some juicy behind-the-scenes deets that had us all raising our eyebrows. Picture this: the set of Raaz, one of 2002’s biggest hits, and the cameras are rolling on a dreamy wedding song. The lyrics? “Apni shaadi ke din abb nahi door hai” (Our wedding date isn’t far). But instead of romance, there was tension in the air. Dino and Bipasha, who were very much a couple at the time, were in the middle of a heated argument. According to Vikram, Bipasha was in tears, and Dino looked like he’d rather be anywhere else. Talk about awkward!
Vikram, always the professional, tried to play peacemaker and suggested they put their fight on pause. “Guys, we’re shooting a shaadi ka song! Can we please call a truce for just two days?” he recalls telling them, hoping a lunch break would ease the tension. But alas, the cracks in their relationship were becoming all too visible. Soon after Raaz, their love story hit Splitsville, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Bipasha wasn’t the first choice for raaz?
And here’s a fun fact that might surprise you—Bipasha wasn’t even the first choice for Raaz! The role of Sanjana Dhanraj was initially offered to Lisa Ray, but she had to back out for personal reasons. Enter Dino Morea, who was dating Bipasha at the time, and suggested her for the role. A quick call to Abbas-Mustan (who were working with Bipasha on Ajnabee) confirmed that she was perfect for the part, and the rest is movie magic.
Fast forward to today, and Bipasha has found her happily ever after with Karan Singh Grover, and they’re now proud parents to their adorable daughter, Devi. As for Dino, he’s doing his thing, and we’re all just reminiscing about those early 2000s days when his love story with Bipasha was the hottest topic in town. Ah, the good old days!
