While the internet had a mini meltdown over Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 allegedly starring the comedic duo Varun Dhawan and Kartik Aaryan, it turns out it’s all just a juicy rumour with no dulha in sight! What looked like a wedding invitation to a Bollywood laugh riot is actually a RSVP from the rumour mill.

Here’s what went down: reports started floating that David Dhawan’s iconic 2004 comedy was getting a Gen-Z sequel with Varun and Kartik taking over the madness once owned by Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Fans went full out, hoping for beach brawls, sassy one-liners, and a mystery bride twist. But plot twist – the whole thing is, well, fiction.
Sources close to both actors say there’s zero truth to these casting reports. No script, no shoot, not even a coffee meeting about it. The only thing Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 has so far is imagination.
As per HT sources, “The rumours of Kartik being in talks for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 are untrue. The actor is currently busy with filming his current project and has a few more in the pipeline that he wants to wrap up first.”
Kartik Aaryan Is busy with other projects
While fans were busy photoshopping shaadi posters, Kartik Aaryan was out there doing real work. He’s been busy shooting in the Northeast for Anurag Basu’s untitled romance drama with Sreeleela and has his eyes set on some meaty solo projects. Word is, Kartik’s focusing on films where he’s the hero in every frame.
The source added, “Kartik is currently focused on solo-led films because he believes that’s the path best aligned with his growth and the space he’s carved for himself. It’s not about avoiding ensemble or multi-hero projects—it’s about the confidence he has in his vision. He’s among the most intelligent actors today, and his choices reflect that.”
So unless a rom-com sequel fits perfectly into his star-shaped puzzle, don’t expect him to jump on board just for nostalgia’s sake.
Varun Dhawan? Also Nowhere Near This Project
As for Varun, he’s got his plate full with fatherhood prep and futuristic projects. The Bhediya boy hasn’t signed any shaadi sequel and has reportedly laughed off the rumours himself. Seems like someone somewhere heard “David Dhawan + Varun” and got a little too excited.
The wildest part? There isn’t even a leading lady in discussion because there’s no movie being made in the first place. No scripts have been finalised, no director has signed on, and certainly no studio has green-lit this shaadi. So unless Sajid Nadiadwala pulls a last-minute magic trick, we’re filing this one under Bollywood Daydreams.
Sure, the idea of Varun and Kartik battling it out over a dream girl is total box-office gold, but as of now, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 exists only in fan fiction and maybe on a meme page near you. Until we see an official clapboard or at least a cryptic emoji post, let’s not send out wedding invites just yet.
In the meantime, you can always rewatch the OG film, blast Jeene Ke Hain Chaar Din, and keep manifesting. Because in Bollywood, anything can happen – but this isn’t happening. Yet.
