Karan Johar has a drastic glow-up, the internet talking and how! From compliments to conspiracy theories, the man can’t catch a break. While Bollywood are either praising his transformation or whispering the O-word – Ozempic (FYI, it’s a diabetes drug-turned-weight-loss-hack popular in Hollywood), Karan is here to clear the air with the sass only he can serve.
Karan Johar clears air on his weight loss with ozempic
In a no-holds-barred chat on Raj Shamani’s podcast, the director-producer-stylist-judgment-slayer got realer than ever. No, he didn’t pop magic shots. No, he didn’t rely on shortcuts. He worked, cried, cursed carbs, and still made it to the other side. “I have always been battling the bulge. I have tried a thousand different diets and 500 workouts. Nothing worked. After years of combatting, I did some blood tests and realised the issues I had, with my thyroid etc. Now people keep asking me ‘Are you on Ozempic, Mounjaro?’ and I am tired of it. People don’t know my truth. You don’t know. After 52 years, I finally feel confident. I’ve never felt lighter or healthier,” he laughed, adding that it was a thyroid reality check—not a needle—that pushed him to change.
Body Dysmorphia Is Real, Even If You’re KJo
Just when you thought being Karan Johar came with an endless supply of self-love, the filmmaker dropped the mic. He admitted he suffers from body dysmorphia, a condition that makes you cringe at your own reflection, no matter how fabulous the world thinks you are. He confessed, “I do suffer from body dysmorphia. It’s when you feel ashamed of your own body. When you feel awkward without clothes on. I go through that even now. I can’t even look at myself in the mirror. I used to be so conscious that I’d jump into the pool in seconds just to avoid being seen. Even now, after losing weight, I struggle to walk around in a towel. It’s not about being overweight, it’s about how you feel in your own skin. People think I’m fashionable, but I wore oversized clothes because I was ashamed.”
Now, after 52 years of battling weight and self-image, he’s finally starting to feel confident and no, it’s not just the inches lost, but the healing within.
What’s next for karan?
Between his emotional honesty and that snatched waistline, KJo’s not slowing down creatively either. He’s backing Akshay Kumar’s high-octane drama Kesari 2, pairing up Kartik Aaryan and chaos in a rom-com titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, and also backing Ananya Panday and Lakshya in a dreamy love story Chand Mera Dil. There’s also Naagzilla with Kartik Aaryan next.
