Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency Certification Stalled by CBFC Until Cuts Are Made: Bombay HC Responds

Kangana Ranaut, once Bollywood’s reigning queen, has been away from the big screen lately, but trust her to come back with a bang! Her upcoming biographical drama, Emergency, has been making waves, and not just for the story it tells. This time, the drama’s off-screen, with the film caught in a web of CBFC certification controversies.

Bombay HC Rules CBFC Will Certify Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency After Necessary Cuts

The fiery actress and her film Emergency – which she’s not just starring in but also directing, have been the talk of the town. The biopic, focusing on a political saga, was set to release on September 6, 2024, but there’s been a massive roadblock. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has reportedly thrown down the gauntlet, saying they’ll only hand over that precious certification if the filmmakers make some serious cuts.

For those who missed it, here’s the scoop. The Bombay High Court wasn’t too happy with the CBFC dragging their feet. Last week, they gave the board a good scolding, telling them to sort things out by September 25. The CBFC responded, saying they’d make a decision but only if the filmmakers agreed to snip some scenes.

Now, if you know Kangana, you know she’s not one to shy away from a fight. Will she go ahead and make the cuts, or will she take on the CBFC with her usual flair? We’re just as curious as you are to see how this one plays out. After all, we’ve been waiting for Emergency for what feels like forever! Earlier, Kangana also stated that she won’t let any cuts happens and will fight till the end.

The film features an all-star cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, and the late Satish Kaushik. With Kangana at the helm, both acting and directing, expectations are sky-high. Whenever this film does hit the screens, it’s sure to be one hell of a ride!

So, will the CBFC win this round, or will Kangana will be given a chance that her film is worthy of it? Only time will tell.
