During an interview with Lehren Retro, the esteemed actress delved into the topic of living separately from her spouse, Dharmendra, and the commendation she received for her independent choice, which was often associated with feminism. She expressed her unwavering contentment with her decision and stressed that she has never regretted her path of raising her daughters single-handedly.
Reflecting on how circumstances naturally unfolded, she shared, “Nobody wants to be like that; it happens. Automatically, what happens, you have to accept. Otherwise nobody will feel like they want to live their life like this. Every woman wants to have a husband, children, like a normal family. But somewhere, it went out of the way… I am not feeling bad about it, or sulking about it. am happy with myself. I have my two children, and I have brought them up very well.”

Continuing the interview, Hema Malini provided further details about the parent role fulfilled by Dharmendra in their daughters’ lives, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. She expressed, “I have my two children, they are brought up very well and he is always there. That is the best part, he is always there. Actually he was worried, shaadi hona chaiye bachchon ka (kids should get married). I said hoga. When the time is right, the right person will come around. With the blessings of god and guru ma, everything happened.”
