DXB International Airport won, ‘Best Airport For Food & Beverafe Offer, and ‘Best Airport For Retail Environment at the Asia Pacific Travel Awards. Other airports in nominations were Singapore (SIN), Doha (DOH), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Melbourne (MEL), Istanbul (IST) and Sydney (SYD).
When it comes to the best airport for customer service, Istanbul Airport (IST) emerged as the winner; Sydney Airport (SYD) bagged the award for the best airport for digital and social media offers. In fact, Istanbul Airport (IST) also bagged the award for the best airport overall.

Besides the Asia Pacific Awards, Dubai’s Duty-free was named as the world’s top airport retailer. The Dubai Media Office, in its recent tweet, mentioned that Dubai Duty-Free is the world’s top retail outlet. DXB’s duty-free has contributed to AED 105+ billion in sales in the last four decades. The Duty Free shopping area in DXB sprawls 40,000+ square metres and has over 5000+ employees, assisting shoppers. In 2022, DXB’s duty-free recorded a massive AED 6.3 billion in sales, taking up the number by 77%.
Founded in 1983, Dubai Duty-Free recorded first-year sales of US$20 million and has grown into one of the biggest travel retail operators in the world with a sales turnover of AED 6.339 billion or US$1.74 billion in 2022. Now employing over 5,000 people, the operation has consistently raised the benchmark for airport retailing and it continues to grow. In addition to a remarkable turnover, Dubai Duty-Free has continued its investment in the development and expansion of its retail offer both at Dubai International Airport and at Al Maktoum International Airport.
