Forget cash and cards! Dubai shoppers can now pay with their face, thanks to a new facial recognition system launched in town. Network International and Carrefour, which is owned and run by Majid Al Futtaim in the UAE, have come together to launch the new Face Pay payment option.
Customers of Carrefour will be able to use Face Pay to pay for their purchases of food, daily essentials, and other items in the Deira and Amsaf Mall locations. Carrefour customers visiting its stores in Deira and Amsaf can now pay for their purchases by merely grinning at a payment terminal rather than pulling for their card or phone. The company noted that customers could sign up for the service online using either the Carrefour website or mobile app.
By registering for this service through the Carrefour app or website, customers can make purchases without scanning their phones or credit cards by simply looking at any of the payment platforms.
In order to be widely adopted throughout the UAE, this solution is based on the facial recognition technology created by PopID and is accessible through the payments network of “Network International.”
“Carrefour is at the forefront by introducing new technologies that improve customer experience and provide a contactless shopping experience,” said Bernardo Pierloiro, Chief Operating Officer for the GCC region at Majid Al Futtaim Retail.
He added, “The face verification feature will facilitate and make payments easier and more efficient for customers without the need to use their wallets. This secure and seamless payment method is fast; it only takes a few seconds. We are excited to be among the first in the retail sector to launch this technology across the UAE in partnership with PopID.”
Happy shopping, y’all!
