Don 3: Farhan Akhtar Breaks Silence on Audience reacting to Ranveer Singh as the New Don

While some of you might still be getting over it, others are certainly excited. Ranveer Singh as Don in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 has blown many minds. While many netizens are split into two camps – one can’t wait, and the other wonders why Ranveer Singh – in a recent interview, Farhan Akhtar finally shared some details that have now shed light on why he chose Ranveer for this role.

Farhan Akhtar opens up about casting Ranveer Singh in Don 3

Speaking with BBC Asian Network, Farhan Akhtar talked about casting Ranveer Singh in the upcoming installment of Don 3. He said, “I’m just really looking forward to get it going. I mean Ranveer is amazing. He’s great for the part. He’s also as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous, about the thing you’re filling some big shoes before you. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh did it and everyone was like ‘Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?.’ That whole thing happened then.”

The director continued, “It really is about an actor coming in and owning the part and making it really like, giving it their style and their flair. And he has that, he has that in spades. So, he’s going to do a great job. I think the responsibility is more mine now to make sure that the script and the film works out the way I imagine.”

While we also await whether Ranveer Singh manages to continue the legacy of Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, we wish him luck in every sense. On the other hand, it’s not wrong for a new actor to take over a franchise; maybe it’s necessary, or maybe it’s not. Known for his acting prowess and diverse range of characters, Ranveer definitely deserves a chance to shine on screen as Don in Don 3.

While the lead actress has not been revealed even by Farhan in the interview, it’s reportedly said to be Kiara Advani, but we await the official announcement.

Directed by Farhan Akhtar, ‘Don 3’ will hit theatres in 2025. We know the wait is long, but why not? kyuki aarha hai naya Don.
