Convention on Climate Change (COP28): Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a robust transit plan, in collaboration with the Office of the Special Envoy for Climate Change of the UAE and Expo City Dubai, to ensure the smooth movement of delegates and visitors during the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
Transportation Across Zones
As the designated ‘Principal Pathway Partner’ for COP28, the RTA is committed to providing efficient transport services across the Blue Zone, Green Zone, and the 18th United Nations Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY18) venues.

Diverse Transit Modes: Metro, Bus, and Taxis
The RTA has formulated technical plans encompassing various transit modes, including the Dubai Metro, Dubai Bus, and taxis at the site. The aim is to provide eco-friendly and easily accessible transportation options for attendees.
Invitation to Sustainable Travel
Under the theme ‘Way To Go,’ the RTA encourages participants and visitors to utilize public transportation. Special edition ‘nol’ cards have been introduced for COP28 delegates, allowing complimentary travel on public transport throughout the conference.
Extended Metro Hours and Enhanced Bus Routes
To enhance accessibility, Dubai Metro operating hours have been extended, with the Expo 2020 Metro Station serving as the primary access point. The RTA has introduced a fleet of biofuel-powered and electric buses, offering sustainable transit options. New bus routes connect key locations such as JBR, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta, and more.

Diverse Taxi Options
For taxi services, more than 10,000 hybrid taxis and 1,000 electric luxury vehicles will be available, accessible through platforms like Hala Taxi, Uber, Careem, and Yango. Strategic ranks within Expo City Dubai further streamline transportation.
Guiding the Way with Road Signs
To guide visitors effectively, the RTA has installed over 100 directional road signs, ensuring clear navigation to the conference site.
COP28: Showcasing Sustainable Initiatives
During COP28, the RTA will showcase its Zero-Emission Public Transport Strategy 2050 at the UAE pavilion’s Blue Zone, emphasizing key aspects of the strategy and promoting sustainable transportation methods.
Dedicated Stand in the Green Zone
In the Green Zone of the conference, the RTA will have a dedicated stand, providing insights into innovative projects like the ‘Self-Driving Transport Strategy,’ ‘Future Aerial Taxi Vertiports,’ ‘First and Last Mile Strategy,’ and the ‘Zero-Emission Public Transport Strategy 2050.’
Presentation at COY18
The RTA will also present during COY18, focusing on initiatives to reduce emissions from public transport buses and taxis in Dubai.
