Al Zahra Hospital Parking: Paid System Goes Live on 15 October

Al Zahra Hospital parking in Dubai is switching to a smart paid system run by Parkonic, which becomes fully operational on 15 October 2026. Patients still get generous free parking, but visitors without validation will pay Dh50 an hour, and fees are taken automatically from the Salik account linked to the vehicle. Here is what drivers heading to the hospital need to know.

Key takeaways

  • The paid parking system at Al Zahra Hospital is fully operational from 15 October 2026.
  • Outpatients park free for up to four hours and emergency patients for up to six hours.
  • Admitted patients park free for their entire stay.
  • Extra time beyond the free period costs Dh10 an hour; vehicles without validation pay Dh50 an hour.
  • Charges are deducted automatically from the vehicle’s linked Salik account.

What changes at Al Zahra Hospital parking and when

According to The National, which cited information published by the hospital, the new system run by Parkonic will be fully up and running on 15 October. Cameras identify vehicles, and fees are deducted from the Salik account tied to the car, so there are no tickets to collect or machines to queue at.

The stated aim is to “reduce congestion” and make better use of the spaces available, while making arrival at the hospital easier.

Emergency patientsUp to 6 hoursDh10 per hour
Admitted patientsWhole stayNone
Vehicles without validationNoneDh50 per hour

There is also a 30-minute grace period for picking up and dropping off, which should help anyone doing a quick run to the entrance.

What drivers need to do

  • Check in as normal. Outpatients receive a text message with a validation link after checking in.
  • Validate your car. The link is valid for up to four hours, which matches the free outpatient allowance.
  • Keep your Salik account topped up. Any extra time, or the Dh50 hourly rate for unvalidated cars, is taken from the vehicle’s Salik balance.

If you are visiting someone rather than attending an appointment yourself, it is worth planning for the higher unvalidated rate, as the free periods described so far apply to patients.

Part of a wider shift to paid hospital parking in Dubai

Al Zahra is not the first Dubai hospital to make the move. Paid parking began at Rashid Hospital on 21 September, run by Parkin with Dubai Health, where patients park free for their full visit. We covered that change in our story on Rashid Hospital’s smart paid parking.

Parkonic already runs cashless, barrier-free parking at a number of malls and communities linked to Salik, so many drivers will find the process familiar. For more parking, toll and road updates, browse our automotive news.
