First things first, the global superstar was recently honored at the 77th Locarno Film Festival with the prestigious Pardo Alla Carriera award, celebrating his colossal impact on cinema.

During a live chat, a fan asked Shah Rukh to dish on the backstory of his famous open-arm pose. With a nostalgic grin, SRK took everyone back to the 90s, a time when Bollywood was all about the “dip” – a dance move that was all the rage. But here’s the kicker: Shah Rukh just couldn’t nail it! Despite practicing all night, he couldn’t get the dip right, and it left him feeling, as he put it, “ashamed.”
Enter the legendary choreographer Saroj Khan, who, in her no-nonsense style, saved the day. “Ma’am, ready?” SRK recalled asking her. But when he tried the dip again, she wasn’t having it. Instead, she told him, “Just stand there and put your arms out.” And just like that, the open-arm pose was born, purely out of necessity!

But the story doesn’t end there. SRK confessed that he took this pose to another set where he was struggling with yet another dance move. Once again, he suggested cutting out the tricky part and just sticking to his arms-out move. And guess what? It worked like magic. “Then I went to a different set and it was quite difficult to do a step, so I just asked Farah, let’s cut it out and just put the arms out and I kept repeating it. Because, I was using the pose so much, I had to do it more intensely and eventually, I made it scientific. I am only fooling you all. There is nothing, it is just arms out”, he shared.
