The Mall of the Emirates, one of Dubai’s most visited shopping and lifestyle destinations, is preparing for a large-scale transformation. Majid Al Futtaim has announced a Dhs5 billion investment to expand and modernise the mall, marking a new chapter in its 20-year journey.
This redevelopment will bring new shopping, cultural, and wellness experiences to visitors, as well as improve infrastructure and accessibility.
Over 100 New Stores to Open
As part of the expansion, the mall will add more than 100 new retail outlets. This move is set to offer visitors an even wider variety of shopping choices, ranging from global brands to local favourites. The expansion aims to strengthen the mall’s position as a top retail destination in the region.
SEVEN Wellness Club Now Open
A portion of the investment—around Dhs1.1 billion—has already been put to use with ongoing upgrades. One of the first new additions is the SEVEN Wellness Club, which has opened at the Kempinski Hotel inside the mall.
The wellness centre offers fitness, spa, and recovery services, allowing visitors to relax and recharge during their visit. It reflects a growing focus on health and lifestyle among Dubai residents and tourists alike.
New Cultural Hub Coming in 2025
In partnership with Dubai Performing Arts Academy, a new cultural centre is set to open in 2025. This space will include a 600-seat theatre and rehearsal rooms, bringing more artistic and performance-based events to the mall.
This addition supports Dubai’s broader vision to promote culture and creativity in public spaces.
Outdoor Dining Courtyard to Launch in 2027
One of the highlights of the transformation will be the introduction of an indoor-outdoor precinct. At the centre of this new area will be the mall’s first-ever outdoor food and beverage courtyard.
The courtyard will open in early 2027, surrounded by lush greenery. It will operate during the cooler months, giving diners a pleasant outdoor experience while enjoying a variety of food options.
Infrastructure and Access Improvements Underway
The team is upgrading the West End district of the mall, introducing barrier-free parking, improving access roads, and enhancing bridges in coordination with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
These changes aim to make visiting the mall easier and more convenient for both residents and tourists.
Speaking about the transformation, Khalifa Bin Braik, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, said the project marks a significant step forward for the destination.
He explained that the redevelopment is not just about adding new features, but about creating a space where people can shop, relax, and connect in new ways.
The project incorporates sustainability and innovation, aligning with Dubai’s long-term vision as a global city.
Mall of the Emirates is entering a new era with this bold redevelopment. From wellness and arts to retail and dining, the transformation will offer something for everyone.
