The newly launched Jeddah Water Taxi is currently operating on a limited route, connecting three key locations:

  • Jeddah Yacht Club – A popular spot for luxury yacht enthusiasts and social gatherings.
  • Historic Jeddah District (Al-Balad) – A UNESCO World Heritage site known for its rich cultural history.
  • Sharm Obhur District – A scenic coastal area, currently closed but expected to open soon.

This strategic connectivity allows residents and tourists to move easily between major landmarks while enjoying the city’s waterfront views.

Operating Hours and Ticket Prices

The water taxi service operates daily from 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM during the holy month of Ramadan. Ticket prices range from SAR 25 to SAR 50, depending on the route. Children under five can travel for free, making it a family-friendly option for exploring the city.

Accessibility and Comfort

The water taxis are designed to accommodate passengers comfortably, including those with disabilities. Specially designated entry and exit points are available, and each vessel can accommodate up to four wheelchairs, ensuring an inclusive experience for all.

Fleet and Capacity

The current phase of the project includes two vessels:

  • One boat with a capacity of 94 passengers
  • Another boat with a capacity of 55 passengers

Future plans include expanding the service to include 20 state-of-the-art stations across Jeddah. Once fully operational, the water taxi system is expected to handle up to 29,000 passengers daily.

By offering a fast and scenic alternative to road travel, the service aims to reduce traffic congestion and provide a unique transportation experience. The introduction of the water taxi is aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to enhance urban mobility and infrastructure.

Booking and Convenience

Passengers can book tickets online through a dedicated app launched by the Jeddah Transportation Company. The app provides real-time updates on schedules and routes, ensuring a smooth booking process for residents and tourists.

Future Expansion Plans

With the success of the initial phase, the Jeddah Water Taxi network is expected to expand to more locations along the city’s coastline. This expansion will increase the city’s transportation capacity and further integrate the water taxi service into Jeddah’s public transport system.

The launch of Jeddah’s water taxi service marks a significant step toward modernizing urban transportation. Offering a scenic and convenient travel option, the water taxi not only enhances the city’s infrastructure but also boosts its tourism potential. As the service expands, it is expected to become a key part of Jeddah’s transportation network, making commuting more efficient and enjoyable.
