When the Bollywood paparazzi forget their manners, Jaya Bachchan makes sure to give them a reality check. She doesn’t sugarcoat a thing. At Rono Mukherjee’s prayer meet, Jaya ji gave it back to the paps. With her “don’t mess with me” energy, she schooled the shutterbugs on how to behave during sensitive moments.
Jaya Bachchan schools the paparazzi
As Jaya Bachchan walked down the stairs after the prayer meet for Rono Mukherjee, she was accompanied by his son, Samrat. She spotted the usual camera chaos and immediately questioned it all. “Eder kano daako?” (Translation: “Why’d you even call them?”), Jaya snapped in Bengali. Samrat quickly denied summoning the paparazzi.
While waiting for her ride, Jaya ji didn’t hold back. In peak sarcastic mode, she told the photographers, “Aap log bhi chaliye saath mein, aajaiyye.” She basically invited them into her car, with zero intention of actually letting them in. Moments later, she muttered under her breath, “Bakwas sab, gande gande se sab (Nonsense, all of it is awful).”
This isn’t her first public pap roast. Jaya Bachchan has a rich history of dragging the paps when they cross the line. From Diwali bashes to airport chaos, she doesn’t flinch before giving them a piece of her legendary mind.
Remembering Rono Mukherjee
The prayer meet was held in honour of Rono Mukherjee, a respected filmmaker known for cult classics like Haiwan (1977) and Tu Hi Meri Zindagi (1965). He passed away due to cardiac arrest last week, leaving behind a legacy deeply rooted in Bollywood. He was the father of Samrat Mukherjee and uncle to stars like Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Ayan Mukerji, and Tanishaa Mukerji. The eldest of the Mukherjee brothers, Rono, also led the North Bombay Durga Puja as its President.
On jaya Ji’s work front
Jaya ji also had a major moment last year with the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Now, she’s cooking up drama in her upcoming film Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi.
