Ishaan Khatter-Bhumi Pednekar’s The Royals To Release On THIS Date

Bollywood’s got a spicy new jodi in town, and we’re already obsessing. Enter: Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter, ready to sprinkle some seriously hot drama and heart-eyed chaos in The Royals! Forget your classic love stories, this one’s got palaces, boardrooms, bratty princes, and a fierce queen-in-heels. This royal rollercoaster finally has a release date and is about to be LIT on Netflix!

The Royals Finally Gets A Release Date!

Set in the fictional kingdom of Morpur, where the thrones are broken and the egos are bigger, The Royals is what happens when a no-nonsense CEO crashes into a party-loving prince. Bhumi steps in as Sophia Shekhar, a powerhouse boss lady with zero time for nonsense. And Ishaan? He’s Aviraaj Singh, the royal rebel who’s got charm, cheek, and chaos written all over him.

When these two worlds collide, think bling meets brains, it’s a recipe for royal disaster or maybe the most swoon-worthy romance of the year?

Know the cast

This show doesn’t just bring the sizzle, it brings the whole spice rack. Along with Bhumi and Ishaan lighting it up, we’ve got legends and scene-stealers galore – Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, Vihaan Samat, Lisa Mishra, Sumukhi Suresh, and many more.

Basically, the casting director deserves a raise.

From the minds of Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy, the geniuses behind that pop-culture goldmine Four More Shots Please, The Royals brings you a modern-day rom-com with a side of old-school grandeur. They’ve stirred together palace drama and corporate hustle, added a pinch of sass, and wrapped it up in a romance you’ll watch in one sitting.

Think Bridgerton vibes, but with desi drama and lehengas that slap.

Netflix India’s Promise? Full-On Feels

Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, dropped the mic saying“We want every story we tell to capture the imagination of our audience enough for them to like, love and recommend the show to their friends and family. Rom-coms have a timeless charm, they make us laugh, believe in love and embrace the beautiful chaos that comes with it. With The Royals, we’ve created a modern love story that has an equally modern-day conflict. While Bridgerton and Emily in Paris showed the world how compelling romantic sagas can be, The Royals brings that sizzle and swoon to a world that’s unapologetically Indian. It’s not just a love story, it’s royalty reimagined with heart, humour and style. It’s been a joy to create this world in collaboration with Pritish Nandy Communications, and we can’t wait for audiences to fall in love with it.”

Creators Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy shared, “With The Royals, we’ve mounted a romance that whips together the old-world charm of palaces and Indian royalty with glass-walled boardrooms and modern reality—where love is anything but easy. The series is about two people from completely different worlds, each fighting their own battles, constantly at odds, yet irresistibly drawn to each other in ways they never expected—remember how you never want the good one but always chase after the one you know is trouble?—that’s The Royals for you. As they clash, challenge, storm and rage against each other to prove their worth, they must also discover whether their love can survive the chaos that’s them.”

Mark your calendars

Get ready for enemies-to-lovers energy, power clashes, stolen glances across palatial corridors, and love letters probably typed on a MacBook.

So, will our fiery CEO melt the ice-cold heart of Morpur’s man-child prince? Will love bloom between spreadsheets and scepters? One way to find out – tune into The Royals streaming May 9 only on Netflix.
