The internet went into complete meltdown mode when Bollywood’s once-favourite duo, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, were seen sharing the stage at IIFA 2025’s press conference in Jaipur. For a moment, it was as if we all time-travelled straight back to the golden ‘Jab We Met’ era. The duo’s cheerful banter, laughter, and that oh-so-warm hug sent fans into a nostalgic spiral. Naturally, one big question started making waves – are we finally getting a ‘Jab We Met 2’? Well, we have a response straight from the man behind the magic – director Imtiaz Ali!
Imtiaz Ali Reveals If We Will Ever Get A ‘Jab We Met 2’
While social media went into full frenzy mode manifesting a sequel, Imtiaz Ali came in with a reality check. Speaking to PTI, the filmmaker admitted he found it amusing that people were instantly connecting Shahid-Kareena’s reunion to ‘Jab We Met.’ But before you start dreaming of Geet and Aditya’s return, hear him out.
“Actually, I find it very interesting that Shahid and Kareena met up in IIFA and people are talking to me about ‘Jab We Met’. Shahid has said that he thinks that I have moved on, but I think that everybody has moved on. It’s been a long time since Jab We Met. I think we should savour that and we should not spoil it by coming up with a sequel at all,” Imtiaz stated.
“I’m not really planning a movie with Shahid and Kareena per se, but it’s great that they met and they’re both very fantastic actors. I obviously had the greatest time working with both of them,” he added.
Well, there goes our ‘Jab We Met 2’ fantasy straight into the ‘never happening’ bin! But at least we got a mini ‘reunion’ moment to hold onto.
Shahid Kapoor On That Kareena Moment: ‘It’s Totally Normal’
While the internet was having a meltdown over the duo’s interaction, Shahid Kapoor had the most chill reaction ever. The actor, who looked effortlessly dapper at the event, addressed the buzz surrounding their on-stage reunion.
“For us, it’s nothing new… aaj stage pe mile aur hum log idhar udhar milte rehte hai (today we met on stage, but we keep running into each other here and there). It’s totally normal for us… if people felt nice, it’s nice,” Shahid casually stated, making it clear that there’s no ‘big deal’ between him and Kareena anymore.
But tell that to the fans, who are still living in their ‘Aao Ge Jab Tum’ fantasy!
What’s Next For Shahid & Kareena?
While we might not get a ‘Jab We Met’ sequel, both actors are on a roll with their individual projects.
Shahid Kapoor is set to impress with Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Arjun Ustara’ alongside Triptii Dimri. He also has ‘Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues’ lined up and was recently seen in ‘Deva’ with Pooja Hegde.
Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan is keeping busy with her power-packed performances in upcoming projects that remain tightly under wraps.
So, while ‘Jab We Met 2’ may not be in the cards, at least our ‘Aditya’ and ‘Geet’ moment at IIFA gave us the nostalgia we never knew we needed!
