Dubai Airport Customs Now Clears in Under Four Minutes

The iDeclare System: Customs Process Now Under Four Minutes

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has reduced the time for customs clearance to under four minutes, thanks to a new system called iDeclare. This smart app allows travelers to complete their customs declaration before even landing in Dubai, making the process faster and more efficient.

How Does iDeclare Work?

iDeclare is a mobile app that lets passengers submit their customs declarations electronically. Instead of filling out paper forms upon arrival, passengers can declare items like personal goods, cash, or commercial items online. Once the form is submitted, a barcode is generated on their smartphone, which is scanned by customs officers at the airport.

This eliminates the need for customs inspectors to manually input data, cutting down the clearance time significantly. The app, available to all passengers arriving at DXB, simplifies the process, offering both ease and security for travelers.

Cutting Down Wait Times

Before the introduction of iDeclare, passengers had to wait as long as 45 minutes for customs clearance. Now, the process has been streamlined to under four minutes, making the arrival experience smoother for millions of passengers passing through Dubai each year.

This step toward digital transformation has made Dubai Customs the first in the region to implement a fully mobile customs declaration system. It aligns with Dubai’s goal of becoming a global leader in trade, tourism, and technology.

Ensuring Security and Efficiency

While the app makes the customs process faster, it doesn’t compromise on security. Dubai Customs remains focused on protecting the country’s borders by ensuring that restricted or counterfeit goods do not enter the country. The new system allows inspectors to concentrate on safeguarding the community and economy while still expediting the movement of travelers.

Dubai’s Vision for the Future

The iDeclare app is a part of Dubai’s larger strategy to boost its appeal as an investment and tourism hub. Dr. Abdulla Mohammed Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, emphasized the importance of using advanced technologies to simplify procedures for travelers while maintaining strict security measures.

With Dubai International Airport being one of the busiest in the world, the introduction of iDeclare reflects Dubai’s commitment to innovation, ensuring that it stays ahead in providing a world-class experience for its visitors.
