HH Sheikh Hamdan Meets The Heroic UAE Search & Rescue Team That Saved Earthquake Victims

After a 7.9 magnitude earthquake shook Turkey, the UAE dispatched a search and rescue team. After 120 hours, the search and rescue team ‘Gallant Knight 2’ rescued many people from the rubble, including an 11-year-old and a man in his fifties and sixties! Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, met the UAE search and rescue team on Monday, 27 February.

“I was pleased to meet the search & rescue teams of @DubaiPoliceHQ & @Dubai_Ambulance that took part in the ‘Gallant Knight 2’ operation launched by @MohamedBinZayed. Guided by Zayed’s legacy, we are always ready to extend a helping hand”- Sheikh Hamdan tweeted.

He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid to those in need during times of adversity, guided by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s ideals.

As part of the UAE’s ‘Gallant Knight/2’ operation to assist earthquake victims, Emirati search and rescue teams saved several people in Turkey. After 120 hours of rescue efforts, a 11-year-old child and a man in his fifties and sixties were rescued.

Under the leadership of UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the support of the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, the UAE remains committed to assisting communities facing crises around the world, he said.

Sheikh Hamdan praised the heroic role and high levels of efficiency of the teams from both entities that joined the UAE search and rescue crew as part of the operation to assist people affected by the recent devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The teams were involved in the operation’s rapid response, recovery, and rehabilitation stages.

During the meeting, Colonel Khalid Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the leader of the search and rescue team, briefed the Crown Prince on the team’s rescue operations in the Turkish city, which was heavily damaged by the earthquakes. The mission’s success reflects the Emirati team’s advanced capabilities in dealing with emergencies.
