Dubai Traffic Eased by 40% as RTA Completes Road Works Near Popular School

How Dubai's New Road Near Kings' School Is Reducing Traffic by 40%

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has made life easier for parents, students, and commuters with the completion of new road improvements on Umm Suqeim Street. The recent changes are already making a noticeable difference, cutting traffic delays by up to 40% during peak hours near Kings’ School.

Traffic Congestion Around Schools

For a long time, traffic around schools in Dubai, especially Kings’ School, has been a daily headache. Parents rushing to drop off their children and school buses trying to stick to tight schedules often led to significant delays and frustration. The congestion wasn’t just an inconvenience; it also raised concerns about road safety.

New Road Connection

To tackle this issue, the RTA opened a new 500-meter street with two lanes in each direction. This new road directly connects the school’s entrances to a recently built detour, easing the flow of vehicles. As a result, the daily traffic bottleneck near the school has significantly reduced, making the commute smoother for everyone.

How It Helps: Improved Connectivity

This new street is part of a larger project to improve Umm Suqeim Street, which stretches 4.6 km from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The project aims to enhance connectivity between major roads like Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road. With these improvements, the street’s capacity has increased by 30%, allowing up to 16,000 vehicles per hour to pass through without the usual delays.

The Benefits: A Smoother and Safer Commute

These improvements are part of RTA’s 2024 traffic plan to make Dubai’s roads more efficient and safer. By reducing congestion near Kings’ School, RTA is saving time and enhancing road safety, especially during school runs.

What This Means for Dubai

This project highlights Dubai’s commitment to ongoing infrastructure improvements that keep pace with the city’s growth. For residents, these changes mean less time in traffic and more time enjoying the city.
