Dubai RTA Rolls Out AI Platform to Cut Traffic Congestion

New AI-based system to enhance road efficiency and streamline traffic management across the emirate

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced Data Drive – Clear Guide. This next-generation traffic monitoring system combines artificial intelligence with years of traffic records to improve road efficiency.

The platform processes five years of historical data alongside live traffic information, allowing RTA teams to make rapid, evidence-based decisions. This approach is designed to minimise congestion, reduce delays, and optimise road usage across the city.

Real-Time Insights for Faster Decisions

Previously, analysing traffic trends and problem areas could take weeks. With the new system, RTA can now assess conditions within minutes, enabling quick responses to bottlenecks, accidents, or sudden surges in road usage.

The technology also tracks average speeds, identifies recurring congestion points, and provides alerts for disruptions. Its ability to monitor diversions, special event traffic, and the effects of road projects means that RTA can adjust plans on the spot to keep vehicles moving.

Data-Driven Planning for the Future

Beyond day-to-day monitoring, the AI platform supports long-term planning. It evaluates the impact of completed projects, providing before-and-after analysis to guide future investments in infrastructure.

By integrating live updates from global traffic data providers, the system ensures that decisions are based on both local conditions and broader travel patterns affecting Dubai’s roads.

Part of Dubai’s Smart City Vision

The initiative aligns with Dubai’s ongoing efforts to become one of the world’s most intelligent and efficient cities. Improved traffic flow benefits residents, businesses, logistics operators, and emergency services, creating a more reliable transport network for everyone.
