Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday, 8 November, with Lakshmi Puja celebrated that evening. Dhanteras, the traditional day for buying gold, silver and new utensils, is on Friday, 6 November.

Diwali is not a public holiday in the UAE, although many Indian curriculum schools give students a few days off. That means the busiest shopping days are likely to be the weekend of 6 to 8 November, when Dhanteras and Diwali both land. If you can, do your big shop earlier in the week, when the malls and jewellery counters are calmer.
