Who said movie stars always get the glitz? In a world where comfort trailers and fancy vanity vans are the norm, Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna have just given a masterclass on what it truly means to be actors who go all in – no filters, no fanfare, just pure commitment. This time, the stage wasn’t a scenic hilltop or designer set; it was a dump yard. Yep, for six whole hours. Let that sink in.
Dhanush reveals how he shot with rashmika mandanna in a dump yard
At the third song launch of Kuberaa’s infectious track Pippi Pippi Dum Dim, Dhanush let fans in on a behind-the-scenes scoop that wasn’t all sparkle and song. “I was literally in a dump yard with Rashmika for six hours,” he shared, casually dropping the bomb like it’s just another day at work. “I asked her, what is this? And she’s like, ‘Sir, I can’t smell anything!’” That’s what we call method acting with a straight face.
He added, “I still don’t know so many things like that, but actually it was not like that. I read so many things that said, ‘It was a big challenge. We were there wearing masks and without masks.’ It was not that big a deal, actually, it was fine. But to see another part of the world. A side which you are not exposed to.”
While social media may have hyped the scene as an “unbearable challenge,” Dhanush brushed it off like a pro, saying it actually wasn’t that big of a deal. But what did hit hard? The emotional flashback. He revealed, “You are always in your comfort zone where you are really comfortable. Like you do only what’s convenient, you know. You are protected. At least some of us are very protected. But to… I mean I come from there. I come from very humble roots. Today I am here by God’s grace. I have seen that. To go back there. To see that world again was very enlightening and nostalgic. I am very thankful to this film for so many reasons, taking me back to my childhood as well is one of them.”
Let’s take a moment to appreciate Rashmika too. Not a single diva moment, just her standing tall in the middle of the dump, proving once again that she’s more than just a pretty face. Now that’s what we call being cinema’s golden girl with grit.

Produced on a jaw-dropping scale by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd, Kuberaa is prepped for a multilingual release (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam — name it!). The cinematic spectacle drops on June 20, 2025.
