Deepika Padukone to exit Kalki 2?
An Instagram page called Bollywood.mobi claimed Deepika Padukone could be hitting the brakes on not just one, but two mega projects. First, it was Spirit with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and now whispers say she might ghost Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 too. We didn’t see coming in this cinematic universe.
Turns out she is trying to ace the mommy-life-meets-work grind. Post motherhood, Deepika reportedly wants to cap her shoot hours at eight per day and honestly, can you blame her? But not everyone’s vibing with her new schedule, especially the Kalki team, who are thinking of either trimming her screen time or replacing her altogether. Yikes.

Before Kalki, the drama had already started brewing over at Spirit. Vanga, known for his intense narratives and even more intense tweets, didn’t hold back. Deepika’s wish list reportedly included shorter shifts, a chunky paycheck and a slice of the film’s profits. Sandeep wasn’t having any of it.
Vanga took to X (formerly Twitter) and, well, he spilled some bitter beans. Without naming names (but, come on, we know), he accused Deepika of playing “dirty PR games” and betraying the filmmaker-actor trust. His words? Sharp as a dagger and just as dramatic:
He shared, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unspoken NDA between us. But by doing this, you’ve ‘disclosed’ the person you are… Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work into my craft, and filmmaking is everything to me. You didn’t get it. Won’t get it. You never will. Aisa karo… Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jara bhi farak nahi padta. #dirtyPRgames. Khudak mein billi khamba naoche!”.
As Deepika reportedly steps out of Spirit, guess who’s stepping in? None other than Triptii Dimri. The Animal actress is now officially leading Spirit, and she confirmed the news with a subtle-but-slaying social media post.
There’s been no official confirmation from the makers of Kalki 2 about Deepika’s exit. But the buzz is getting louder, and where there’s smoke in Bollywood, there’s usually a raging fire.
Bottom line? If Deepika really is out, it’ll be a major shake-up for Kalki 2, especially since her character was reportedly crucial to the sequel’s plot. Will the film lose its sparkle or find new shine with a fresh face? Only time will tell.
