Dubai’s Ticketless Parking Just Got Real: Salik Rolls Out Smart Access for Tenants and Visitors

A new era of parking in Dubai is here—one without tickets, apps, or the usual frustrations. Salik, the city’s well-known toll gate operator, has just launched a ticketless parking system for selected users at the Deira Enrichment Project, simplifying how tenants and visitors access parking zones.

Using license plate recognition and Salik e-wallet integration, vehicles can enter and exit seamlessly, no card taps or tickets needed. It’s the kind of smart convenience Dubai residents have come to expect—and it’s finally rolling out.

How the System Works: Just Drive In and Out

Forget fumbling with tickets or trying to figure out the right app. The new Salik ticketless parking solution identifies vehicles based on their number plates, using automated cameras to record entries and exits. The charges are then automatically deducted from the driver’s Salik account—provided it has enough balance.

If a visitor doesn’t have a Salik account or is running low on funds, the system will prompt them to use an alternative payment method before leaving the lot. Failure to pay may result in penalties, legal action, or even blacklisting.

This effort is being rolled out in partnership with Parkonic, one of the UAE’s largest private parking operators. The two companies are working together on a five-year contract to modernize how parking is paid for at over 107 existing and future Parkonic-operated locations across the UAE.

Deira Enrichment Project

The Deira Enrichment Project, an expansive urban redevelopment effort featuring 11 districts, is the first area to benefit from Salik’s ticketless parking initiative. This is not just a random pilot—it’s a strategic move aimed at areas with high footfall and a growing demand for tech-driven solutions.

Here’s a breakdown of costs:

  • Hourly parking: AED 5 (including VAT)
  • Overnight parking: AED 25 (including VAT)
  • Annual membership for tenants: AED 5,000 (plus 5% VAT)
  • Annual membership for visitors: AED 7,500 (plus 5% VAT)

These memberships can be purchased through the Parkonic app and are linked directly to Salik’s payment system, removing the need for any middle steps.

Convenience Meets Smart Urban Living

This isn’t just a minor upgrade—it represents a major step in Dubai’s smart city vision. For residents and businesses alike, it eliminates time spent on managing paper tickets, dealing with malfunctioning machines, or worrying about expired sessions.

The system works automatically, giving drivers more freedom and peace of mind. It’s also expected to reduce congestion at parking gates, especially during peak hours.

More importantly, it marks the first time Salik has expanded its services outside toll gates. This foray into parking signals broader ambitions from the company as it diversifies into other mobility-related services.

Salik’s Expansion: From Tolls to Smart Services

Earlier this year, Salik also introduced variable toll pricing, charging AED 6 during peak hours and AED 4 during off-peak hours, with free access between 1am and 6am. This change was aimed at improving traffic flow and encouraging smarter travel behavior.

Now, the company is pushing further into new territory. Apart from its partnership with Parkonic, Salik is also collaborating with major commercial players like Dubai Mall, Emaar Mall, and Union Coop—hinting at a future where its services may cover multiple aspects of everyday mobility.

As Dubai continues to evolve into a smart city, this shift positions Salik as more than just a toll gate operator—it’s becoming an essential part of daily urban life.

What’s in It for Dubai Drivers and Tourists?

For residents, the benefits are immediate. Imagine driving into your residential or office building and not worrying about finding a ticket machine or remembering how long you’ve parked. With this new system, parking becomes as simple as driving in and out—something that aligns perfectly with Dubai’s fast-paced lifestyle.

For tourists and visitors, the system removes the barrier of downloading unfamiliar apps or figuring out how local parking works. As long as a vehicle’s licence plate is recognised and linked to a valid Salik account—or a payment method is registered before exiting—parking is effortless.

What You Need to Know Before Using It

Users must keep their Salik accounts topped up and registered with the correct vehicle details, even with the new system’s convenience. Failure to do so may result in unpaid parking fees, which could lead to fines or more serious consequences.

Here’s a quick checklist for users:

  • Ensure your vehicle is correctly registered with Salik
  • Maintain sufficient balance in your Salik e-wallet
  • If you’re a visitor, link your vehicle with Parkonic before exiting
  • For frequent users, consider annual memberships for better value

This seamless approach doesn’t just help drivers—it also helps operators enforce parking rules efficiently without human intervention.

What’s Next for Salik’s Smart Parking Vision?

The integration with Parkonic is just the beginning. Salik has hinted at expanding the ticketless parking service to commercial destinations like Dubai Mall and Emaar Mall. If implemented, it could revolutionize how millions of people across the UAE handle parking every day.

This move could potentially:

  • Reduce entry/exit congestion in high-traffic areas
  • Integrate loyalty or discount programs tied to Salik accounts
  • Enable cross-platform transport solutions, such as linking parking to metro or public transport usage

As the company continues expanding beyond toll roads, Salik is positioning itself as a multi-service mobility leader in the UAE’s evolving urban landscape.

A Future Without Parking Hassles

Dubai leads Salik’s ticketless parking offers residents, tenants, and visitors a simple, seamless, and smart experience. No more scrambling for tickets. No more apps to fumble through. Just smooth entries, automatic payments, and less time wasted.

An update you’ll overlook—until you use it and never want to go back
