Sania Mirza, the tennis champion from India, has declared her retirement from the sport following her final Grand Slam match. After the game, she delivered an emotive address that brought supporters to tears. Little did she know that her “Dubai family” was eagerly anticipating the celebration of her outstanding career.

Mirza published a picture on Instagram in which she is seen cutting a cake, along with her son. She thanked her “Dubai clan” in the caption whcih read: “When you come home to this and realize you have the best friends and family in the world.”

The sports star said she was truly surprised ‘for a change’. In the above video, Sania is seen entering her Dubai home while her son stands by her side. As soon as Mirza opens the door, she exclaims in shock and delight to see her house packed with balloons and her friends.

“Surprise”, her friends shout! The moment the door opens Mirza smiles brightly. After placing her hand on her chest and putting her belongings aside, the tennis champion greeted her friends. Mirza, who returned to Dubai from Australia, where she declared her retirement was pleasantly surprised by family.

Shoaib Malik, her spouse and a Pakistani cricketer also congratulated her in an emotional tweet.

He stated: “You are the much-needed ray of hope for all athletic ladies. I’m really pleased of what you’ve accomplished in your career. Many people look up to you; keep going strong. I’d like to congratulate you on a remarkable career.”
