UAE Slashes Attestation Waiting Times with Online System

UAE launches online document attestation service to reduce waiting times and enhance efficiency

The UAE has taken a significant step toward improving administrative efficiency by streamlining its document attestation process. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) has launched an online attestation service in collaboration with key government entities. This new system aims to reduce waiting times, simplify procedures, and enhance convenience for residents and businesses.

A Major Shift to Digital Attestation

Previously, document attestation in the UAE involved long waiting times and the need to visit MoFAIC’s Customer Happiness Centers in person. The process was time-consuming and often led to delays for individuals and businesses needing to validate personal and commercial documents.

To address this, MoFAIC introduced an online platform where users can complete the entire attestation process remotely. This shift to digital services reflects the UAE’s broader strategy to improve public service efficiency and enhance user experience through technology.

How the Online Attestation Process Works

The new system allows users to complete document attestation in a few simple steps:

  • Create an Account – Users must register on the MoFAIC website or mobile app.
  • Upload Documents – Once logged in, users can upload the documents requiring attestation.
  • Payment – Payments can be made through secure online channels, including Google Pay, Apple Pay, and credit/debit cards.
  • Review and Approval – MoFAIC reviews the submitted documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Delivery Options:
    • Within the UAE: Documents are collected and delivered through a courier service.
    • Outside the UAE: Individuals can collect their attested documents at the nearest UAE mission or embassy.

Faster and More Efficient Processing

The online attestation service offers both standard and express options to meet different levels of urgency:

  • Standard Service – Processing takes three to five business days, depending on the document type and delivery option.
  • Express Service – For urgent requirements, attestation is completed within four hours.

This flexibility ensures that individuals and businesses can receive attested documents quickly, reducing operational delays and improving overall efficiency.

Cost of Attestation

The fees for attestation services are structured based on the type of document:

  • Personal Documents – AED 150 per document.
  • Commercial Certificates – AED 2,000 per document.

Additional courier charges apply, depending on the delivery location and speed of service.

Collaboration for Seamless Integration

The introduction of this system is part of a larger effort to digitize government services under the UAE’s long-term strategy. MoFAIC worked with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) to streamline financial and industrial procedures. The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) also played a key role in aligning trade-related banking processes with the new system.

By integrating these services, the UAE government aims to reduce paperwork, minimize errors, and accelerate processing times for both residents and businesses.

Positive Impact and User Convenience

Since its launch, the online attestation service has received positive feedback for its ease of use and time-saving benefits. Users can track their application status in real-time and receive updates through notifications, ensuring transparency and reducing uncertainty.

This initiative not only simplifies procedures for individuals but also supports businesses by cutting down administrative delays and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

The UAE’s new online document attestation service reflects its commitment to innovation and user satisfaction. By digitizing essential services and collaborating with key government entities, MoFAIC has made it easier and faster for individuals and businesses to complete document attestation. This move aligns with the UAE’s broader strategy to create a more business-friendly and efficient administrative environment.
