As we head into August, UAE residents will face higher petrol prices. Starting August 1, 2024, new rates will kick in, reflecting an increase of up to 6 fils per litre compared to July’s prices. Here’s a straightforward look at what to expect and how it will impact your daily costs.
Why Are Prices Going Up?
Petrol prices in the UAE are adjusted monthly based on the average global oil prices and the costs of distribution. With global oil prices rising, the UAE’s Fuel Prices Monitoring Committee has decided to increase the rates accordingly.
New Petrol Prices for August
Here’s how the new prices break down:
- Super 98: Dh3.05 per litre (up from Dh2.99 in July)
- Special 95: Dh2.93 per litre (up from Dh2.88 in July)
- E-plus 91: Dh2.86 per litre (up from Dh2.80 in July)
These increases mean that filling up your car will be more expensive this month. The exact impact depends on your vehicle type and how much you drive.
How Much More Will It Cost?
Here’s a look at how the new prices will affect the cost of a full tank, based on average fuel tank sizes:
Compact Cars (51 litres)
- Super 98: Dh155.55 (up from Dh152.49)
- Special 95: Dh149.43 (up from Dh146.88)
- E-plus 91: Dh145.86 (up from Dh142.80)
Sedans (62 litres)
- Super 98: Dh189.10 (up from Dh185.38)
- Special 95: Dh181.66 (up from Dh178.56)
- E-plus 91: Dh177.32 (up from Dh173.60)
SUVs (74 litres)
- Super 98: Dh225.70 (up from Dh221.26)
- Special 95: Dh216.82 (up from Dh213.12)
- E-plus 91: Dh211.64 (up from Dh207.20)
This means you might pay an additional Dh3 to Dh4.54 for a full tank, depending on your vehicle type and fuel choice.
