UAE Passport Strongest In The Gulf, Singapore Takes The Top Spot Globally 

Henley Passport Index has come up with a new ranking, and as per the latest rankings, the UAE passport has bagged the 12th spot in the world’s most powerful passports list. Offering 179 destinations visa-free, the UAE passport has climbed three places from last year to rank as the 12th most powerful passport. In terms of the first spot, Singapore has defeated Japan to bag the first spot. Singapore citizens can visit 192 destinations out of the world’s 227 visa-free. Read on for all the deets.

UAE Passport Attains 12th Spot On The World’s Most Powerful Passports List

UAE passport has shown a significant improvement and climbed 44 places from 56th in 2013 to 12th on the list, alongside Cyprus. Henley Passport Index survey is based on the number of destinations passport holders can visit visa-free and is compiled using official data from the International Air Transport Association.

On the list, Singapore has bagged the first spot with 192 countries, Germany, Italy and Spain- have tied for the second spot with 190 countries, and Austria, Finland, France, Japan, Luxembourg, South Korea, and Sweden have tied at the third spot with 189 countries.

Offering 188 visa-free countries, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, United Kingdom have bagged the fourth spot. And with 187 countries, Belgium, Czech Republic, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, and Switzerland round up the top five list.

The UAE passport is the only Gulf Country passport to ank in the index’s top 50, whereas the Indian passport has shown a significant rise by climbing up to the 80th position. Oman’s score has leapt 35 points, from 71 to 106, to put the sultanate 33rd, the highest in the region. Qatar has managed to bag the 42nd spot and Saudi Arabia has bagged the 72nd spot, Bahrain 60th and Kuwait 68th. 

When it comes to the world’s least powerful passports- Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan sum up the bottom four nations.
