Online travel company Wego recently revealed the most sought after destinations for MENA travellers. Any guesses which place made the cut? Find out!
Boasting a little bit of everything, Egypt swept away the top spot. Egypt has held on to its crown as the most sought after destination for travellers in the Middle East and North Africa for the ninth consecutive year. Following Egypt was the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia, bagging the second position.

Ross Veitch, chief executive and co-founder of Wego said: “From around the Gulf we’re seeing quite a bit of interest in Saudi Arabia with a lot of people going in for the Formula One, or Riyadh Season or going for a business trip, and then tacking on a few days to check out the place.”
Rounding off the top three destinations for MENA travellers was India, knows to attract for foreign talent and labour for the Gulf region. The UAE was in fourth place, followed by Kuwait which climbed into the top five. Turkey moved further down the list, bagging the sixth spot.
Pakistan, Jordan, Thailand and Qatar completed the top 10 destinations for MENA travellers.

UK, Germany and Italy lead for European destinations
When it comes to European destinations, UK topped the charts. “The Wego data we shared is from all the origins we cover across the Mena region, and to some extent those trends are true of the UAE, but it’s reflective of a broader marker,” said Veitch.“

Italy was ranked third, with Germany coming in at number two on travelers’ wish lists for Europe. Italy, known for its stunning coastlines, historic cities, and Mediterranean cuisine, is currently popular among tourists from Saudi Arabia.
That’s not all! According to the latest data from dnata Travel — a leading travel provider in the UAE Switzerland is the most favoured destination by UAE residents. Well, we can’t deny- can we? According to a consumer survey, 43% of respondents want to take their next vacation in Europe.
